Hi Valerie, stage 3 colon cancer. I don't want to gross anyone out, but have you had constant trouble with bleeding hemorrhoids and what did you do for them. I'm not constipated, but can't seem to get them under control. My Dr. prescribed some prescription suppositories, but it's not going away. Have any other remedies out there?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have H problem also. I am finding that if I
increase water intake and eat more fibre foods
I get a softer passage. I eat blueberries every
day and also cranberries and sliced slmonds and
whole wheat bread, etc. You can find a list of
foods with fibre on the internet and pick and
choose which ones to eat but the key is to always
drink a lot of water....at least 48 ozs. I also
use Prep H. DIXCHI0 -
i suffer from them as well. you could do diet, etc or the finally thing is surgery. i have to say that the bleeding has stopped since my colon surgery. i was looking into getting them removed if needed,
hope this helps, hot towels help to shrink them
be well
never,ever give up!!

I've had hemmeroid problems since giving birth 21 yrs ago. This Feb they became what the dr called an "acute hemmeroidal crisis". Had a double hemmeroidectomy. See a proctologist. They know that part the best.
And yes, with the cancer I ended up with rectal surgery twice in one year. But, if not for the hemmeroids, the dr never would have ordered a colonoscopy at my age. I have no symptoms. So in the oddest of ways, hemmeroids were a blessing? :-)0 -
I don't think many semi-colons with chemo are able to avoid hemorrhoid trouble. I didn't have anything more than that horrible burning until my 3rd treatment regimen, then the bleeding started. Since I NEVER have stool that is too firm (more likely trying to figure out how to get it to be firm enough not to have to run to the bathroom, but that's for another thread!), i knew the bleeding had to be from the burning affect of the chemo. I find the pain is easily handled with neosporin with pain relief ointment. If the burning lasts more than a few days i switch to hemorrhoidal ointment. Cleaning with wipes that don't contain alcohol and aloe helps as well. Luckily, every time chemo ends, about a month passes and i have no more hemorrhoid issues!0
