bilateral mastectomy

I had a double mastectomy in November of 07 and was fortunate enough to not have to do chemo. I'm on Arimidex. I'm in my 60's and I am still working. My problem is that I tire so easily. Seems all that I can do after work is collapse on the couch until bedtime and then do it all over again. People tell me it will just take a while to bounce back, but I'm wondering if it could be the Arimidex? Or is it the combination of the surgery and the Arimidex? Has anyone else experienced this? I want to say that I have so much admiration for all you ladies. You have been through so much more than I have. You all are in my prayers.

I had bloodwork not long ago and everything was fine. It is difficult to function! I find myself wanting to just nap..all the time!

Hi Grandma: Was wondering if you had your thyroid levels checked? That also causes fatigue. Hugs, Lili

I had bilateral mastectomy without Armidex. I went back to work full time (I am a Speech Pathologist) in 6 weeks. Did OK, but did take brief naps after work most days for another 6 weeks. I have heard that thyroid problems can lead to tiredness....I would say talk to your Dr.

    Good luck, seof.

Hey grandmagail - I just registered with this web site. I'm also a grandma and also a Gayle. I posted a question re: your subject. Do you have pain? I hurt 24/7, both sides, mainly cancer side. I'm on O.C. 20mgs/3 times per day. My doctors don't know why I have the pain. I was wondering if anyone else out there had this problem!
