This isn't exactly the right post for the colorectal cancer board. But my friend, Carol Kodis, who was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in December 2006, died today right after noon. She was diagnosed two months before I was - a was colon cancer 3A. She never smoked and did everything you are supposed to do, healthwise. She was also a lovely person. She went through exstensive chemo and appeared to be responding and around Christmas everything fell apart. She has been in hospice care for the last three weeks and died today. I am so sad. This disease is so unfair.

Oh, Pam, I am sending hugs.

There is no reason that we can fathom as to who lives and who doesn't....

    I'm sorry.

    Hugs, Kathi

Pam, I hate cancer. I lost a friend to cancer recently, as well. It's entirely appropriate to bring it up here, because we all feel a more heartfelt sadness over such things now. *hugs*

Oh, Pam...I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, Carol. You're right, this disease is unfair and I know how hard it is to watch it take someone you love and care about. Many blessings and prayers for comfort and peace to Carol, to you, and to Carol's loved ones.

How awful, Pam. I feel so much for you and her family. Cancer is for the most part indiscriminant. I was a vegetarian for most of my life, and still got colorectal cancer. I think the bad things we do to our bodies are only risk factors and not causes. Our environment is little less than a cornicopia of toxins, and it's my belief that no matter what we do, if we're susceptable (gene mutation), we're going to get cancer, or whatever other illness we're susceptable too. Lung cancer is no more a smokers disease than colorectal cancer is a meat eaters disease. I hope more people start to realize that so we can begin cleaning up our environment, and try to reverse some of the damage that has been done to our genes.

Sorry about the spelling in this reply...i seem to have forgotten how to!!

I hope Carol's passing was peaceful, and that you and her family can find some solace in this tragedy.

    Many hugs,
    Krista

Pam, I am sorry to hear you lost your friend. This d@#N cancer is quite unfair. It does not have a reason many times for picking us, it just does. Carol played a very important role in the complete elimination of cancer from our society some day.

Ihope your memories of the good times are strong and lasting.
    peace
