Chat option

Hello I have seen posts from people about the chat on this site. I have a temporary solution while this site gets theirs up and running again. I have been looking for a way that would be user friendly but also secure. Google talk I think will allow for this. Group chats can happen through contact lists. You have to be invited into a chat by a friend/contact. If you leave the chat you have to be invited back in. It would involve people getting gmail accounts, which is free. Google seems to have a good spam filter. It is just a thought.

Hello Everyone,
Here are a couple of links to look at before we start the chat.
This will explain about google chat:
http://www.google.com/talk/about.html
This will explain a little about the group chat option:

This will explain about security and privacy:

The way to start would be to have everyone who wants to participate to sign up for a gmail account. To do this go to google (http://www.google.com/)and click on the sign-in link (at the top right of the page). Then go to the sign up for gmail link and sign up.
After people have signed up we can either share email addresses using the email system here or figure out some other way to do this.
Once the contact list has been established you will be able to see who is signed in and who is not. From there you just need to invite them to chat if they are signed in.
I think it might be nice to establish a night where as many people as possible sign in and chat. Let me know if there is anything else you would like me to provide or if there is any other questions.
Thanks,
Chris0
