    I'm curious to know if you had any symptoms. So far, I have not had pulmonary involvement. I have had three tumors burned out of my liver with radio frequency ablation. Saundra

    i have ovarian cancer 111c last tx was sns 395 followed by doxil -chemo is not working - spred to my liver lymph nodes spleen ,a small dot on my lung. was ablation successful on your liver my tumors are aprox 2.0 mm -size on lung is not described. any idea if ablation is used on lungs.no symptoms re pulmonary -it showed up in a cat scan.next step is experimental clinical trials.

    I was Stage IV ovarian before surgery because of the wide spread when first diagnosed. I had to have 4 chemo of taxol/carbo before they would attempt surgery. Those 4 doses brought my CA125 from 2988 to 35 and the CT scan showed over a 50% reduction in tumor size. After surgery and RFA on liver (they removed all female organs, spleen, omentum, and anything they could find) I had 4 more chemos of taxol/carbo. This brought my CA125 down to 7 ad under. I had another CT scan and the written report said that my liver tumors were a little bigger. That is when we learned that burning the liver tumors out leaves a fluid filled hole and that looks like a tumor to the radiologist who did not know about the radio Freq. Ablation. I was given one dose of taxitere during that conflab. Then when the misread CT scan was solved, I was given the option of the lower dose maintence or sometimes called "consolidation". My tumors were all over 2.5 cm. I am waiting to see what the last CT scan says and have just finished my 8th out of 12 doses of the maintenance schedule. I am starting to react to it...broke out in a rash the last two times in spite of the benedryl given pre and post treatment and had nausea this morning in spite of the anti nausea medication. I believe the RFA was successful as that surgeon said that he got it all. I don't know if they do lungs with RFA. It is a whole different type of tissue. I think the maintenance dose is holding back additional tumor growth because my CA125 stays between 4 and 7 each month and it is a very good marker for my tumors the doctors say. I will pray that yu can get in a good clinical trial. My RFA was done in Dallas at Baylor by a Dr. Khons (KOONS).

    I had a clear CT scan this month and physical exam. The liver holes were smaller indicating the liver is healing itself inspite of the chemo I am on. Please post a new post telling us how you are. Saundra

    They do use ablation for lungs. I know of at least one person who had it done when colon cancer spread to the lungs. I am new on this site, having just joined tonight. I hope it isn't presumptious of me to reply to you. I have just passed my 5 year anniversary of completion of treatment for stage IIIC ovarian cancer; and am looking for "survivors support". I find myself feeling quilty about surviving when I am losing friends to other cancers.

    You are always welcome here. I feel guilty as well because some people have gone through so much in so little of time. I am 8 months out of treatment for Stage IIIC also - but hearing you are 5 years out (no recurrences??) gives me great hope.

    We are truly excited to hear from survivors, 5 years out. You give us hope and proof that it can happen.

    Let me explain; Saundra is very precise when explaining in detail the answers to your questions. All this Dr. stuff isn't for me. I just know what I've been dealt, and hope; even in my elementary explanations, I can be of the smallest amount of help!!!

    I too was diagnosed stage IV Ovarian Cacner with spread to liver, lung, lymph nodes, colon, stomach, etc. I've been through round one of chemo and I tolerated it well, as did my cancer. There was enough shrinkage to allow for the debulking and start chemo again. Keep moving forward...our cancer SUCKS, as there isn't any real good evidence one drug works better than another. I'm all about wanting an answer, but I have so many questions. Keep on keeping on, and god bless.
