Well, going for my 4th round of Taxol in the morning after a refill in my boob's to be at 8am see onco at 8:40am then chemo by 11am I hope. I hate the SHAKES SHAKES SHAKES sorry but my hands are shaking more and more and im worried about this treatment, plus im having terriable back pain, like fire not a pulled muscle. I got to get it out here before I go there in the morning. I hope to get my fentanyl patch refiled and up to 100mcg/hr that is what I have been one but with three patches, I think they can do one, wish me luck on that and if anyone as suggestions on the shaking please let me know...luv you guys
Heather

Hello Heather, first of all your not a nut, your a women going through pretty much the same as the rest of us. I'm on taxotere and i was told that that drug has the same side effects as the taxol. I'm only on my 1st with the 2nd one due after my cruise. It's funny you mentioned back pain because last night my back hurt so bad i wanted to kill myself. I was in soooo much pain. So i feel your cry about the back pain. As far as the shakes, well i havent gotten there yet and hope i dont. It's gonna be okay and it wont last forever. If thats all the side effects your having from that med then your doing good. I've read some taxol horror stories on here. Scary stuff!!!
Hang in there girl this is only temporary.

    Many hugs to you!

I must be the NUT! While reading your post, all I could picture was you having your car repaired! Taxol being the gasoline, filling your boob of course, getting air in the tires, and the patches? Well, no wonder you need the tires filled~ they are patched!!! That would cause ANYONE to shake! You have never been on this road before, and though you have been told the trip is hazardous, the destination is worth it.

You are not alone on this trip~ all of us have been on this pot-hole filled road, patches, air, shakes and all!

    Welcome to the Car-pool!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

Good luck Heather, can't offer any advice on the shakes, but wanted you to know you are in my prayers. I went through A/C and not taxol so can't help you much. Hang tough it will be over soon. Love ya, Lili

I hope your treatment went ok and maybe you got some relief for that back pain. I hear you on that just hang in there. Sometimes i wonder what it's all for anyway and think about giving up then i get the good news that i may be in remission again. Then it's, oh yeah this is what it's all for. Hang tough. Sending prayers and hope for you.

    Hugs too.
  • Sweetie, do you take decadron with the taxol? I did, 10 tablets. Decadron is a steroid and acts, I believe, like a stimulant. Marilyn (love you!) and I would write about our hamster days, an image I think Claudia first mentioned, when you feel like a hamster running in a wheel on the decadron. The shakes could be from the meds they give you to counter the taxol. Also, they often drip Benadryl with the taxol, which made me sleepy (thank goodness because ain't nothing worth staying awake for in a 5 hour taxol drip session) but benadryl can have a stimulant effect on some people. As with everything, mention your side effects to your oncologist. Also to the chemo nurses who often have heard alot and know alot. Also mention your shakes to anyone else who will listen. Why not? You deserve some attention and sympathy! You have my best wishes for luck on this (last?) round. Love, Joyce

Thanks for the response, I do get the benedyl, decron combo with Aloxy in my Taxol infusion, my 3nd treatment was on Wed. and had me back for a 4hr infusion of fluids, decrodron, & zofran because i was incoherant and vomiting all weekend, scared my family it hit me on a Friday, which is tomarrow so Sat. I am doing the same cycle and she lowered my dose thank God, It hit me hard while I was getting my 4th infusion this past Wed. I am praying tomarrow goes better than last week.

  • Heather, You don't sound like a nut to me! Hang in there I can relate to the pain. I had taxol and had bone pain for a few days after each treatment in my ankles, hands, arms and lower back. It is tough I know, but keep your eye on the end result---victory! I did not have shakes, so unfortunately don't have a suggestion for that. Keep plugging along, soon life will be free of all this treatment crap. Take care, Eil
