Not working

The carbo isn't working, I got a reduced dose anyway and looking at study they have asked me to be in. Still sick from the chemo so my brain isn't thinking the best right now. The study is similar to bone marrow transplant but it would be getting one of my childrens killer cells. I'll post later about what it involves. It's a long time in the hospital and a long recovery. Originally I said yes but now am wondering if it's just time to stop. Hugs to all Bonnie

    My Dear Friend,
    I know you must feel so defeated right now and weary. I pray that you will find the Strength of the Lord and Wisdom as well to make these important decisions and to stay strong. I will be waiting to hear about this procedure and what you have decided.

    I am so very sorry to hear that. Nobody else can truly understand what you are going through right now, so only you can make the right decision for you. We will all be praying for you and sending lots of hugs and caring your way. I know that God will guide you to the best decision and He will hold you up. Please know that we love you and want the very best for you.

    Oh Bonnie, I will keep you in my prayers for you to make the right decision for you. I know how hard this is. There are times I just wanted to stop and say "no more" but somehow that old "will to live" keeps coming up again. So I will just pray that whatever decision you make, it is God's will for you. My thoughts and prayers and hugs are with you.

    Dear Bonnie, I am heartbroken at your posting. You are such an inspiration to me. I join the others in praying that you will find the right answer for you and be supported in what you decide. I find strength in the promise of eternal life and know that you do too. Take your time in the decision, after the chemo wears off some and your thinking is clear.     Bonnie, something brought me to the board tonight, and I now feel that it was to offer you encouragement and help give you a gentle push in the right direction as the other ladies have. I have only recently attended a talk that included killer T cells, and felt it was a very positive therapy to be researched. I hope you'll feel better about participating, and will feel better while participating.

    Thank you all for your support. Here is a bit about the study. They actually try to remove all the T-cells from his blood and just give me the killer cells.

    My Dr thinks I am good candidate for receiving killer cells from one of my children. This has been successful with leukemia and lymphoma cancers and now in trial against solid tumor cancer. So far they have used it for renal cancer, has had one success story, and four breast cancer patients and the stats are still out.

    I would be admitted into the hospital on -6 day, given Fludarabine, a chemo drug to start killing off my cells, -5 and -4 I would get fludarabine and high doses of Cytoxan to bring my counts down to zero, on -3 and -2 day I would get fludarabine again . Finally, we reach the -1 day; I rest and they draw the blood from the donor to harvest the natural killer cells from his blood. They activate these cells with IL-2 (interleukin-2) which our bodies produce normally for our immune system. On day 0, I would get the donor’s research blood and IL-2. Every other day after that I get an IL-2 infusion and this is when high fevers can hit pretty bad. I continue to get IL-2 up to day +14, now we are 21 days in the hospital and I may get to go to Hope Center or another type of apartment.

    Maybe this is the break so many have been waiting for.

    That's quite a regimine, but I know you are up to it, Bonnie. Your tough spirit and faith will see you through. And we'll be lifting you up in prayer every moment.

    Assuming everything will fall into place (financially and such), is there a target date to start this? I hope you have opporutnity before then to take part in all the graduations of your grandchildren.

    Wow! That is something. I am trying to set up my new computer and will e-mail you a special reading I found uplifting. Thanks for keeping us posted. I am going to try to read up on the Tcell thing. How soon will this take place? ((Hugs and Prayers))

    Oh Bonnie I am so sorry, I know it is so tiring and hard and heartbreaking to go on and on and on. I have a hard time but then I get mad and then I start praying. The joy of the Lord is our strength. You and your family are in my prayers, yes I pray God gives you wisdom and strength.

    Bonnie,

    This all sounds pretty much as the doctor at that luncheon I went to explained it. He's been working in research in Pittsburgh, and sounded positive about the possible outcomes of this type of treatment. I hope this is the miracle you need!
