Done with week 3

I really can't believe that I'm done with 3 weeks of the chemo/rad treatments. This week was pretty uneventful except for the fact that today my internal hemorrhoids have really become annoyed with me. WOW!!! That is some serious pain. This weekend I know I'm going to spend soaking my bottom in the tub in preparation for next week. Any suggestions for this problem? I do have another question, the onc. told me 5 weeks for the treatments, now he told me that it may go 6 depending on what the radiation doc decides to do...has anyone finished in 5 weeks straight through or should I expect the 6?
Hope everyone has a nice weekend...

Actually 28 treatments - chemo/rads is the number that I have heard the most - so 5-1/2 weeks. My number was 28 - I ended up doing 25 - but I did it last. I understand the soaking in the tub is good for hemorroids, but I didn't have to deal with that - I had trouble the last few weeks with severe diarrhea. Sounds like you are doing really well. Keep us posted.

Wow Denise,
3 weeks already! Those dang hemorrhoids (mine was outside). I'd go from diaherra to not going (that one was the worst).
I just kept PH on them and yes, I loved to soak in the tub. I read, on here at one time, someone put ointment/meds while your waiting (on toilet). Use medicated wipes or baby wipes, etc.
I'm sure someone will answer you with more meds than I have.
Here's to your continued great attitude and energy for going forward

Denise,
My husband is going through Folfox, But seems to have the same issues on the bottom as you. He did soak in a warm bath and that did offer relief. I also bought him Desitin-used for diaper rash. He drinks allot of GT2-for the electolytes and eats the BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast)diet to help with the diareha. Good luck to you! You are over 1/2 there!!0 -
Congrats, Denise! I did a full six weeks of chemo. My doc never said anything to me about a possible 5 weeks. My radiation oncologist was the one who wanted to do 25 days of radiation with a 5 day booster, if i was able to tolerate it.
As it turned out, i did NOT tolerate the radiation very well. I had painful urination, fevers, exhaustion, then eventually my bladder became blocked with dead white blood cells and crystals three days into the booster, and i had to be cathetered for several days. I told my rad onc i did not want to do the rest of the booster, but she was adamant that i do the rest, and that it was detrimental to my survival. She showed me that it was going to be focused JUST on the tumor with no bladder involvement, so i did it. I'm glad i did because as awful as the radiation was, it completely killed my tumor. Maybe your med onc is waiting to see if your rad onc wants to do the booster? I was told the chemo was given only to help the radiation shrink the tumor. I would talk to your rad onc. If you are on the same treatment as me, they will probably want you to do the booster. Do they suspect you're a stage III?
Many hugs!
