Hello all,
Okay..I will start out with saying (if you haven't already read how I feel about energy) I'm a big advocate of saving your energy for moving forward and not looking back.

However, I can't help but think how I got to the point of not looking back. It was one year ago today that I took my first chemo treatment. For you "newbies" not knowing what was going to happen was the hardest for me. I just wanted to get that first treatment out of the way! So, I went in, sat down with wide eyes looking at everything and wondering when it was going to happen.

The second the needle was put into my port is when all my angst (is that the right word?) came out. I just sobbed and sobbed for what seemed like forever, when it was probably only a few minutes.

You know what? After that, I never looked back and got my attitude right and went forward from then on!
Have been off of chemo now for about 6 months and quess what? You can call me NED! >>>>BIG GRIN>>>>

For you new folks (or anyone else out there), always save your energy for going forward.

This site has been so helpful for me and I thank you for your support.

I raise my glass (of carott juice) to all of you!

Claudia

Claudia.. CONGRATS ON THE 6 MOS NED! AM THRILLED FOR YOU! Hubby also now 6 mos NED after very bleak prognosis a year and a half ago. We too were so scared and apprehensive starting chemo and 2 major surgeries .I echo your sentiment to the newbies. Keep your attitude right. It can make a huge difference!Don't give up and get support whereever you can.God Bless and keep the faith.

That's great! My oncology nurse used to tell me that most problems pop up in the first six months after treatment. So I think six months is actually quite a milestone! I like your philosophy about saving your energy for moving forward. We've had a lot of great discussion today on the forum.

I am doing my best to move forward. I will be going for my 6 mos. scan in May but so far am NED, I was 3A. Lots of angst in the beginning am now trying to just move forward. You are obviously more deserving than I, while you are toasting with carrot juice, I am toasting with a glass of wine. Just so happy to be able to eat - somewhat normally - and participate in life. All the best.

Claudia! Big congrats on NED!!! You always came across as positive and I looked for your posts. So happy for you. I, too, remember that first chemo and feeling like I had landed on the moon with no recollection of how I got there. But life went on, things were overcome, and those that weren't, well, I learned to live with them. The most important thing is N-E-D!!!! I hope you never grapple with this or any other beast again.
