Last Chemo done.... survivorship begins

Last week Thursday was my last chemo. I cant believe I have actually managed to get to that point. Six months ago it seemed like it was the beginning of the most awful ordeal in my life - and it was, but I have reached the end, and I have survived. And I will keep on going. I am more tired that I ever thought was possible. I am anaemic - which makes things more difficult - a shower takes it out of me, and I have to rest for hours after. I know this is all part of the chemo and the side effects, and the anaemia, and I know that it will get better, but it still feels so close and real. My doctor reassures me that the further away I get from the disease, the easier it will get, and that I now need to focus on being a survivor. Thanks to those who have chatted with me and my husband during my treatment, it has helped knowing that there are other people out there who understand exactly what all this has been like - even if you are all on the other side of the world! Keep chatting! Angela

Angela - CONGRATULATIONS!! I remember the fatigue well but I am 3 1/2 months out of treatment and I can tell you that it does get better. You just have to give yourself a break and remember everything you've gone through. What an accomplishment! I'm so happy for you.
Take good care. Sending good thoughts your way.
