Hi Beadmom, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I have not experienced that but I wanted to wish you an easy journey. Perhaps you could tell us more as I thought "in situ" mean't it was encased
and not "on the run" so to speak. Best of luck to you and know that there are warm wishes and prayers headed your way.

Beadmom, sorry to hear your journey is not so easy ...I too, have thought that "in situ" meant it couldn't travel. Can you tell a little bit about this? I am sending prayers your way...Cindy
  • hi beadmom, I too am confused. In situ means the cancer is trapped in the duct and unable to travel. How on earth I wonder did it manage to spread.....we will be thinking of you and keep us updated. Eileen

My breast ca was also dcis in situ and spread to lungs as pluaral effusion. They drained off 3 litres of fluid which was malignant. I had had a mastectomy. Maybe thats when the beast was turned loose.

I'm sorry for your dx, and sorry that I have no expreience or words of wisdom. I guess it just goes to show that cancer is unpredictable. Doctors know a lot more than they used to, but still get surprised now and then.

I hope your new stage in your journey is as easy as it can be.

    best wishes, seof

My DCIS in 2004 was "extensive" and included "microinvasion" which "probably does not involve margin" with negative sentinal nodes, 3 removed for examination. Guess we should have done chemo then! Now it has matasticised in the liver and I am just greatfull that meds have given me some of my life back! I have a wonderful oncologist who saved my life! Last Saturday I shot my first competition of the year, Cowboy action shooting which I started last spring! Got a bit tired, but was able to finish! Thanks to all who responded! Don't feel so alone!
