Beast is back...side effects?

Been a few months since I last posted as I had a clean scan in Oct 07. Originally dx'd with colon cancer stage II in 2005. had surgery with no follow up chemo. Clean scan in Mar 06, March 07 scan showed several mets to the liver and lung, did 12 treatments of FOLFOX plus and got the clean scan in Oct. 07. Scan in Mar 08 shows 2mm in one lung and 2 cm nodule in other lung. Starting new treatment of Campostar, Avastin and Xeloda tomorrow. Would like to hear what the side effects are from others who have had this treatment. I am a cancer warrior and I return to battle tomorrow. I will be victorious and give all thanks to God!!!

    You have the attitude that will help! I've had all three of the chemos however I haven't had them all at the same time. With campostar it made me sick. Xeloda is in small dosage so I haven't gotten the hand feet sydrome that most get. Avastin with me doesn't have any side effects that I can recall. Best of luck to you!

    I'm sorry about the new mets. I have not had the treatments you are inquiring about, but I want to tell you that I am praying for you and that you are better than Wonderwoman!!!!! Hugs.

    I have not had any treatment you had mentioned, however I want to wish you luck, you are in my prayers. Attitude is everything!!!

    Hi,
    I'm currently on a short chemo break, but have been on the drugs that you are going to start for about 6 months. My side effects are stomach cramps, some loose stools, tiredness, some general weakness.
    I will be back on these drugs in 2 weeks. I prefer them to some of the others that I have had.

    You have a great attitude and I'm sure you'll do fine!

    Keep that great attitude and keep fighting!
    Cancer is such a beast and sometimes gets you down. Just check in and maybe someone here will be able to cheer you up. I didn't have a problem with the Avastin and haven't had the Camp-

    I am so sorry to hear that your beast is back. You are in my prayers.
    My DH has had all the drugs you mentioned but not all at the same time. Avastin - tired and weakness and lesser dose helped. Camptasar - nothing serious Xeloda - the hand and foot syndrome can be painful. Again-he was given a smaller dose and it helped. Also, as others will tell you, keep your hands and feet well lubricated. That seems to help the hand/foot syndrome. The doctors will adjust dosage, if needed. You have a wonderful attitude as does my DH. Attitude is a very important factor in slaying the dragon.

    Hi there! I also have not had those chemo drugs, but i can tell you that my boss had stage IV colon cancer and she swears that Xeloda saved her life. It was still in trials at the time she took it, and she has been cancer free for over three years now (she, like you, also has a wonderful attitude).

    I'm sorry you have to go through this again, but keep up the positive attitude! Hubby had Avastin and Xeloda, with oxalplatinum. He had very good results with that regimen and it did get him to the point of liver resection . Fortunately he never did get the hand foot syndrome the xeloda. He did get a blood clot, which I believe was a result of the regimen, but again thankfully it was controlled with the lovenox. He was pronounced NED in Jan. We are awaiting scan results again (anxious time) but like you , we believe we'll be victorious and give our thanks to God. God Bless and keep the faith
