I just wanted to thank everyone for words of encourgement on the site. I feel like I have so much to work out in such a short time. I will have my bilateral mastectomy in two weeks, I have not worked out the child care, sleeping arangements in my home so my husband can get a good night sleep, he has to work, My mom will stay with me for two to three weeks after the surgery. I guess I am just freaking way out...Then I get to deal with Taxol. Thanks for letting me vent.
Love,
Heather

Hi Heather --
I wanted to chime in, too. I'm sorry we had to meet under these circumstances. I was 34 when I was diagnosed. That was 4 1/2 years ago. I now have a two year old daughter. I know how hard it is to care for an infant even when you are feeling good, so I can only imagine how stressed out and tired you are.
I don't blame you for freaking out. Who wouldn't? The thing is that you are treating your cancer very aggressively. You are doing everything within your power to ensure that you are going get through this. Believe it or not, some people don't. They have the death sentence; we don't. There are many people on this site who had grave prognosis. Some were even told that they'd die in 6 months -- it's years later and, not only are they living, they are living well and are an inspiration to all of us. You will belong to that club. I know you will.
Accept all the help that is given to you and be proud of everything that you've accomplished. This disease is not for the weak of heart! If you need to freak out, do it. Then you'll be ready to move on and get to work. Ask for help and vent to us as much as you like. We are here to listen, validate, and give support and advice. You and me and the others are forces to be reckoned with. Cancer is scary. But I believe (in the nicest way) that we are scarier. We have wills and hearts and minds. Cancer does not. You will get through this and raise a daughter who will be as brave and courageous as you are.
XOXO,

I missed your other post, but, I have a thought or two to share.
As far as the child care...sounds like mom can lend a hand?
The sleeping arrangements? I bought an 'egg crate' mattress, and layed it out on a couch facing the TV...put a twin bed sheet set on it, and pretty much veged there. My sleeping was so erratic, some nights I found myself watching the late, late, late, early show! This way, I didn't disturb the rest of the house.
I am sending big, warm hugs...you have beat cancer before, it's on the run, you can beat it again!
Hugs, Kathi0 -
You deserve to vent! You are going through something huge and difficult and upsetting. I am so glad that your Mom can stay with you. Don't worry about the taxol, it is much easier than AC. I had some fatigue and bone pain for a few days after each treatment but no nausea. Hang in there, we are with you. Eileen0

Hi, sweetheart. My name is Joyce and I have been through most of my experience with the help of the fabulous women on this board. First, Taxol was indeed easier for me. But, it did, I think, send me into some dark mood days. They went away each time, then came back each other time. Sometimes it seems like everytime we get a good run of happiness and positive attitude something comes along to pull us back down. But, everytime we get down, something else will come along to pull us up. Have you tried calling Y-Me to speak to a survivor on the phone? The Y-Me people will be able to match you up with someone who has overcome a similar diagnosis and also with other young mothers. Their number is 1-800-221-2141 (24hour) if you are interested. Also, know that I am here for you in anyway I can help! Love, Joyce0
