dizziness and the shivers
Well now i am having problems with dizziness on ad off throughout the day. I also spent my day yesterday with our fireplace on (the room was at 80 deg) and I was under the blankets shivering. I do not have a fever, flu etc.. anyone else have these type of side effects?? I am going in for a saline infussion today for slight dehydration.
thanks
Mark

Oh, Mark....sorry for your new troubles!
I didn't have the chemo you are, but did become severely dehydrated. I was EXTREMELY cold and VERY dizzy....as soon as I was rehydrated via IV Bollus in the hospital, these symptoms improved dramatically....
I am sending my biggest, WARMEST hugs!
Hugs, Kathi0 -
thanks Kathi and JoAnn. My partner works for a patient ground and air trasnportation company and there are nurses and pramedics running all over the place. I am walking around with a bag of salline to get rehydrated. The group (his friends here) are so caring. they have decided to mmake this a weekly ritual for me. It is good to be loved. one of lifes most underappreciated gifts.KathiM said:Oh, Mark....sorry for your new troubles!

Hi Mark,
I think that sounds like a great plan. It really sounds like dehydration to me too. I didn't have that problem with FOLFIRI, but I did have it when I first did chemo with the 5-FU/Leukovorin. I think chemo just makes a person require more water than the average Joe. Well, anyway, I am so glad to hear that you are being well cared for, you are quite right about love. It is certainly one thing that none of us should take for granted!
Best wishes,

Hi Mark,
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time!
I'm currently on a one month break from chemo. I am feeling so much better and have so much more energy that I'm reluctant to go back on chemo. I know I have to though.
I'm glad that you have people taking care of you.
Take care,

Hi there,
My hubby also is on the irinotecan with erbitux and he has the same things as you. Our home is so hot I cannot breathe. I bought him an electric throw that he keeps on him in the living room while he is in front of the fireplace. We bought an electric mattress cover that keeps his side of the bed toasty warm. We try to keep a beenie hat on his bald head to keep him warm. It is a struggle and has been for 6 months. He is not dehydrated, does struggle maintaining thyroid and potassium level. We thought these were the reasons for his cold. We are counting the minutes and hours until summer. Good luck, hopefully this too will pass.0 -
I canrelate. I am freezing here in Tampa at 70 degrees outside. My hands are like ice. I thought it was from the previous Oxaliplatin, but I am also on irinotecan now and am also having some dizziness. Hydration is good with me...must be a side effect. Hope you feel better soon.0

Hi Mark. So sorry you are having these effects. I don't know why you are having them, but when I got cold & dizzy during treatment it was due to dehydration mainly; also, poor nutrition since I could not make myself eat much. I pray this will pass and I am so glad you are surrounded by love. Hugs to you.
