RE: Friends and Mortality

I have just the thing for all of us who share the problem of friends who shy away from talking about C and who ask "how are you?" never really wanting to know the truth. Next time you are in a Hallmark shop, go to the section with the talking cards. There is a card featuring Gilda Radner's picture on a TV screen and she's doing her impersonation of Roseanne Roseannadana. The front of the card simply says, "So..." Open it. She recites of litany of ailments including depression, wetness, nausea, sinus problems, swollen ankles, bleeding gums, constipation, gas, etc. I carry this card with me and now, and when a friend asks, "how are you?" I pull out the card and let "Roseanne" do my talking. The card is the funniest thing I've ever read/heard. Try it. You'll get a laugh, that's for sure. Hugs, Marilynn

Yes, I believe Gilda had ovarian cancer. What a loss. She was one of the very best at what she did - which was to make us laugh and recognize some of our own foibles. She was the best. MarilynnKathiM said:And she was struck down by the beast! I LOVED her...I will find that card!
Thanks, Marilynn!
