update on DCIS recurrence, etc
The core needle biop. failed. They could not hold the breast in position to be seen on the screen so that the needle could be guided. The microcals. are in the scar more toward my underarm and higher up.
I saw my oncologist. Took the two copies of film that I talked the tech into printing for me. My onc told me she was sure it was fat necrosis but after she looked at the film, she made me an appt with the surgeon and one for an MRI. She still tried to remain cheerful but her face changed.
It still may not be cancer but if it is, this is from non invasive dcis, four years ago. I am in every weird bad percentile you can imagine.
Love to you all..I am going to hit the hay. I guess that they will cut the things they call breasts off next....wow.
Peace out...Jan

I just wonder if a person knows sometimes when it is their time, can just know it? I just have this feeling. Or maybe it is because my dad just died. But, I don't know, the things I am dealing with right now are finding homes for my birds and willing my jewelry and going to the funeral home to have it all planned so no one will have to do anything. I want music like Freebird, and Don't Stop, and maybe some Janis Joplin played. I want to pick all that out and burn the disk. Am I nuts?0 -
Jan, We are always here and I had the bilateral mast back in March and doing great. It was not nearly as bad as I imagined. Very doable. Angela0

I've been taught that no one, except our God, can truly know when out time is up. So, please banish that thought from your menstural cramp free life. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be practical, but you've been through a lot of emotional turmoil with losing your dad and dealing with your own health issues. The psychological side of cancer, any type, is vicious. Don't let it cloud your smiling face. And, you aren't sure yet if you have a recurrence. So, please, take it easy on yourself. Be kind to yourself. We're all out here pulling for you. Hugs, Marilynnseeknpeace said:hahahaha...oh yeah, I remember those.

Yes, I had a bilateral mast. and tram flap recon. in Jan. 2004, so I have been through that part. While it is not a picnic, yes it is doable. The thing is that my dcis did not look like cancer, I had to fight to get a biopsy and the tech at the breast clinic treated me like crap, like why was I taking up her time, this is not even cancer.survivor51 said:Jan, We are always here and I had the bilateral mast back in March and doing great. Well it was and it was 2.5 cm comedo high nuc grade 3, prog/estr negative full of necrosis. It was ready to take off and was a very aggressive type and I was not a candidate for tamoxofin.
So, only 10% of the ppl with micro. cal. are cancer and then on and on, and for every bad percentile, here I am. The chances of dcis recurring were so low, like 1%. And now there are microcalcifications in the scar far right, near the underarm of the same affected breast as before. IF this is the same cancer and not another one, I shudder to think what I will face. I am just keeping it real. There is a tumor in my mid brain, top of my brain stem that is inoperable. Well, they think it is a tumor, can only be ruled out or proven with successive MRIs. I have MS so I word search, walk like a drunk and fall down. Then this? Sumins up in paradise ova heah. And, I want to vomick.
Will they cut these lovely things they call breasts off? I mean, I will look like a link sausage. So for me it is like what what?

Mine was a recurrence of dcis too in sept of 2007...like yours it turned out to be invasive ductal carcinomaa...high grade...nothing to do but mastectomy they said since I had already had a lumpectomy with radiation...I just had the other breast removed last week and two biopsies that turned out ok under my scar..so please know that things could still turn out ok...I work in a breast imaging dept and I know that fatty necrosis is common too...hope this helps0 -
Yes, it helps. I have the MRI on Wed, and then see the surgeon next Monday. I hope that we will have some sort of determination from the MRI but whatever way that wind blows, I will have a biopsy. It is not up for discussion. I am sure my surgeon knows that. We have already danced this dance.ladybluepgh said:hi Jan,
