Good Information

Hi all,
I see postings from time to time from people looking for good information on colon and rectal cancer. So I wanted to share that I purchased a book from American Cancer Society called the "complete guide to colorectal cancer"

It covers everything you can imagine from initial diagnosis through follow up after treatment.

So from this survivor, it really helped me understand all the steps before they happened to me.

    I agree with funnyguy. Overall a very good book. I bought it the day I was diagnosed off of Amazon. I used the book throughout my entire treatment.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I wish I had found this site earlier. My wife has completed the chemoradiation (6 weeks intensive), surgery which removed the tumor (5 cm diameter) stage 2B, a leak caused the need for a colostomy, which was reversed for a ileostomy which was reversed last January (about 5 1/2 months after initial surgery). Nodes (10) were negative. No way to tell if cance cells were ever there. Margins all negative. She is now going to have a petscan but has pretty much decided against more chemo. Her problem now is getting her digestive system working again. Does this book give suggestions about doing that? From what we can find out, its pretty much varies from person to person.

    A friend of mine at the ACS gave this book to me at the beginning...it's great!
