I ordered my first wig so that it matched my color almost exactly (salt & pepper) and matched my style. When it arrived and I put it on, I found that it was "close" but no cigar. The style was just "off" enough to make me terribly unhappy. You know the feeling - when you walk out of the hair salon and go straight home and wash out the style that the designer gave you! So, I gathered my scheckels and bought a new wig. I chose a color I had always wanted to be within the limits of my skin tone, eye color, etc., and a style that was similar but longer - more of a bob. Guess what?????? I'm happy, happy, happy with my new look. My friends think its terrific and my husband loves it. And I'm thrilled. I'm not hiding the fact that I'm going through chemo and that I've lost my hair. So why not enjoy those few things that make us feel better, cosmetically?!!!!! This worked for me. I can't guarantee that it will work for others, but it might. Hugs, Marilynn

    You go girl!!!!! I'm so glad you have one that makes you feel good. When I learned how to tie my scarfs different ways, I was happy. I found a wig that helped also. Send the other wig back and hopefully get your money back or maybe your hairstylist can make some changes. Lots of love, Angela

    Hey Marilyn,
    Nothing better than being HAPPY during chemo, have some fun, you deserve it. I live close to a spa, and it costs a lot to have any services done, like a pedicure, so not all of us would be able to enjoy these services. I must share with you, that it is owned by a very special woman who gives away free days at the spa for women who are fighting cancer. You must have a Dr. sign a release, and they treat women to a full day, and I mean a full day at the spa including lunch. My daughter and I went together, got a facial, a full body massage, manicure, pedicure, and free makeup. When they took my daughter over to the area for her shampoo, I just felt strange, bald and all, but they took me down a different hallway to a very special room. Inside, I was treated to a free wig of my choice! They asked to see photos of me before I went bald, and matched my hair style as close as they could. WHAT A TREAT! What a blessing this shop is, and they continue to do this 3 days a week. When they brought my daughter down to see me, we both squealed with excitement at my new look, make-up and all. What a very special day it was, and I made sure to donate the wig back to them once my hair returned. How we look means so much to us, and to find joy and laughter in this battle with cancer is awesome. Thanks for letting me share my story, it is one I will never forget.

    I know I'm not fortunate enough to have a day spa near here where they would do these services for cancer patients, but my great niece does work at a spa. You've given me a great idea. After my next infusion and my rocky days following, I think I'll make an appointment and get a facial and a pedicure. Oh - to feel pretty. I was never a raving beauty -- but you know what I mean. Pretty. Thanks for the great idea, and I like your idea of donating the wig to the salon. Maybe I will find something to do with mine when I no longer have a need. HUgs, Marilynn

    Trust me Marilynn, there is nothing like being pampered the way these ladies treat the women fighting cancer. It made me feel NORMAL, like I was just another woman getting pampered. I certainly can't afford these luxeries myself, so it was indeed a special day. YOU GO for it girl, enjoy yourself, pamper yourself, and love your body. Let me know how it goes! Later,

    I know what you mean about not being happy with your wig and I'm so happy you found something that you're pleased with. It is so important to feel pretty when you're in the middle of chemo. Sounds like you've managed to hit a high note and I'm happy for you.

    I am thrilled that YOU are thrilled with your look! There is almost nothing worse than feeling unattractive due to chemo, and then have the wrong wig compound that feeling! I wore a wig for "special occasions" but for the most part found them too hot! If I can describe this correctly, the hairpiece I loved was supposed to be worn as bangs. It was about 5" long, and had an elastic band to attach to the back of my head. It was designed to be worn with a bandana or a hat, so that at least from the front, it looked like a head of hair. The fact that the rest of my scalp was covered with a bandana kept the elastic hidden, and my head not so warm. But, I didn't wear it as intended, of course! I intentionally wore it backwards! I put the elastic at the top of my forhead, and wore the bangs as a page-boy flip on the back of my head! I put the bandana on a bit low on my forhead to cover the elastic, and it looked as if I had hair to about shirt collar length! I don't know if I am able to convey this in a way that you can even picture it! LOL

    I too had massages and pedicures regularly. ANYTHING to make me feel relaxed and feminine!

    You deserve to be as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside~ thanks for sharing!

    I had some of the same issues when ordering my wig. I ended up with 3 wigs. The first two were cute, but too tight. I ordered a 3rd and I love it. It's a trial and error kind of thing and ordering a wig is not something that we normally do. One site that I've had lots of luck with is paulayoung.com. Make sure you measure your head before you order. I thought I'd have an average sized head, but I was wrong. I have a large head! Ha. Good luck through your chemo.
