tightness with implants

I had my mastectomy and reconstruction on Feb. 21. I had the lattisimus flap with implant reconstruction, but I wanted to ask if anyone experienced a tightness sensation in this breast right after the procedure was done? I think what I am feeling is from the implant. I asked the physician's assistant at my doctor's office and was told it take the muscles awhile to adjust, that the tightness will go away with time. What do other people say about this? It's not painful and it doesn't bother me that much, but I just wondered if I'll always have this sensation? Also, I have not had the courage to look at my reconstruction yet - I was thinking I'll look once the swelling and bruising from the surgery goes away, and when the tattoo on the nipple. If you had a reconstruction, when did you look at it? Thanks. Hi to everyone and thanks for all your good wishes and support. This group is my lifeline. I tell everyone about it. Ohilly

Hi ohilly:
So glad to have you back with us. Thought about you all the time. I am so glad everything went well for you. I had the tram flap on Feb. 4th, and I still feel tightness. The muscles take a while to adjust. I looked at my reconstruction on the 2nd day and I loved the way it looked. I am very pleased with my results. I will do the nipple later on. I am very glad everything worked out for you as you were in my prayers. Lili0 -
Ohilly,
I responded to your email and I hope this helps. Angela0 -
I looked at both of mine a few days afterwards. It was a shock at first but after all the swelling went down I thought boy they are up high. The Plastic Surgeons office said that once all the swelling went down and my skin started to stretch they would fall into place. Your question about the tightness it will go away in time just be patient. Jackie0

I too experienced tightness after my mastectomy and latissimus dorsi but it wasn't the silicone implants. Like your doctor said it takes quite a while for those muscles to relax. I had mine done in May of 2007 and it took most of the summer for the tightness to go away. Have patience and it will happen. I looked at mine right away and was really surprized at how well it turned out, you will be too. Hugs!0
