I had my 3rd chemo treatment yesterday, I am using 3 hrs. of taxol and 1 hr. of carbo, every 3 weeks. I had to skip last week cause of low blood counts. I was a stage 3c and then had the hysterectomy, and a few limph node removed before chemo. I went to the Doc. cause my stomach was bloated and had pressure in my adomen, I should have went sooner of course, but thought I was just getting fat for some reason. Thought is was from drinking alcohol. I went online to this url and found some good stuff to take while you are on chemo. If anyone is interested here is the url.
CancerFightingStrategies.com I still haven't found all the things at the health food stores, but some I already had. Like co enzyme q10, wild blue green alge. That has been giving me more enerqy. I hope everyone is doing well. I have only been on chemo for 3 months now, I didn't realize that people would have to be on it for over a year. I thought once the 6 weeks cycly was up then it would be over. Not so sure now.
Anyway my name is Kathy and I am 56 years old, but very young at heart. I think I still can't believe that I have cancer. I am keeping a possitvie attitude most of the time, but do get scared and depressed off and on. Hope to talk to some of you ladies sometime.
thanks,
Kathy

I guess it takes a while still, to recupe after you go into remission, thats what I heard from some other readings. I wish you the best and keep in touch ok. Yes do try some of those things. I still need to find them.

You could be right, I guess I should not believe all that I read right? Just wishful thinking that I could be helping get rid of some of the cancer myself. Most thing is that I eat really good, lots of veges (carrot/celery juice is a good one) fruit smoothies with protien powder. I don't eat processed foods any more. Well thanks for the reply and I hope that some of the things will work. I did get some of them at the health food store, just looking for a couple more like the zeolite and Qxye. I didn't look up on the url how much they were selling it for. Gotta do that.

    Hi Kathy and Welcome,
My name is Leslie and I was dx in Aug. of 2005, at the tender age of 34. I too had a complete hysterectomy, ovaries removed, omentum, and lymph nodes. I was staged at stage 2 and my gyne/onc was able to remove all of the cancer and my lymph nodes all tested negative for cancer, I went through 6 rounds of chemo (taxol/carboplatin) and finished in January of 2006, and I have been cancer free now for almost 3 years. I am feeling great and beleive it or not I feel that my life is even better now than before I had cancer, I enjoy each and everyday and feel very blessed. I never knew just how strong I was until I came face to face with cancer. I am a firm believer in always thinking positive and to never lose faith. I am glad that you found this website, there are so many wonderful ladies on this site to offer support, advice, and hugs.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you continue your chemo, and I am here to offer support and answer any questions that you may have, I hope to chat with you soon.

Sending a big HUG your way,
    Leslie

Warm Welcomes and Gentle Hugs Kathy, You will find this a great place for support and encouragement. A place to share what you feel you can't anywhere else and I promise you will find at least one other woman who has felt the same way.

I am concerned about your webpage findings also. I know walmart and gnc carry everything you mentioned. Please discuss anything you take with you medical team, some don't go always go with the drugs we are getting. I do believe some things help us though. I have tried the cq10 and didn't notice any difference, I would think the green algae would help the digestive system maybe.

I do take L-glutamine for the neuropathy still and notice the difference when I stop while getting chemo.

Anyway welcome to the board and good luck with the rest of you chemo treatments.

    Hugs N Prayers BonnieRose

As you can see, this is a wonderful board filled with wonderful ladies who are a wealth of support, luv and info. Briefly, I was dx Stage 1C in 2000, at 45 1/2, had 6 rounds carbo/taxol (which took 7 hours, every 3 weeks). Had a recurrance in 2006, surgery, six more rounds of carbo/taxol/taxotere. I have been cancer free for nearly 2 years, I'm 53 years old. I love life, take one day at a time (one moment at a time if necessary!), I am very blessed to be here, exercise (weight training/cardio), eat as clean as I can, take supplements. First and foremost I do focus on my diet (lean protein, eggs, some dairy, fruits/berries, good grains, veges - broccoli, broccoli, broccoli!), distilled water. Beyond that, I surely rely supplements such as L-Glutamine, Vitamin C, Mushroom Extract, and a few more.

I do shop at reputable health food stores, because I feel that the brands are more reliable and effective. Nutrition has been my husband's 'hobby' so to speak for over 35 years. So before we settle on anything we research reliable sources, get all the info we can on any side affects/interactions, etc.

Well, I didn't want to make this too lengthy. But welcome to the board. I'll be looking forward to hearing more from you. There's no doubt that finding out we have cancer is difficult and a life-changing event. Hopefully you will find lots of support and everything you are looking for here.

    Hugs and Prayers!

Hate to say welcome, but will say we are here for you. I take some L-glutamin and Vit. B-6 for neuropathy and think it has helped keep my side effect to a minimum. After 9 big doses of taxol and carboplatin and four smaller doses of taxol, I have minimum numbness that goes away so far after two weeks. I have just added Energizing Iron to help my RBC bounce back and I am feeling so much better and energetic after three weeks of that. I eat well balanced diets and so far have not missed a treatment because of low counts yet. I had major debulking surgery and radio ablation of my liver after four treatments. I knew mine was stage IV with the first CT that showed liver involvement. So far, I have had optimum results with each step of treatment. I have learned a lot from the ladies here in the year that I have been participating. It's a great site and has kept me informed and comforted. I like the ((HUGS ÅND PRAYERS)))
    Stay tuned. Saundra

    Kathy,
First would like to welcome you to the site, and I know you'll find lots of suppport and love on here. I agree with what some ladies have said here about that site your reading up on. The most important thing is that you take nothing without the approval of your Dr. For some reason my Onc did not want me taking anything while I was on carbo/taxol. He did say I could take b-6 for the neurapathy. I was dx. in Nov.2004 stage 3c. I'm currently in chemo again for a second recurrence. I like alot of others try to eat a healthy diet, and I'm also a firm believer that stress is a killer and seems to feed the cancer,so I have removed any and all stress from my life within reason. No body can live a perfectly non stressed life!! Anyway..welcome and good luck..(((hugz)))~~Joanne
