Weekly Taxol?

Hi all. I've posted on here a few times but I haven't lately since I've kind of been on a break from chemo off and on but now my oncologist wants to do weekly taxol and I'm wondering if anybody has experienced that and if so, how are the side effects? It seems like there wouldn't be much time in between to feel good. So I'm a little worried about that. If anybody can give me any info on that, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Polly

I was getting carboplatin monthly and my CA125 kind of got stuck at 183 and she did a petscan that showed spots in some lymph nodes under my arm and a few other places and I've had lots of other chemos in the past so she hasn't yet tried the Taxol weekly. I'm hoping that, since it is weekly, it would be a lesser dose that wouldn't cause too bad of side effects. So that's my story. I've had stage IIIC since 2001 and have had several reoccurances.

Hey Polly, I was glad to see you posted. I am sure after the weekend you will have someone who has done weekly taxol answer. Please keep in touch and let me know how the chemo goes and if you are doing your chemo in Cambridge maybe we can set up a lunch date with laurie if you aren't too sick and she isn't either.

Pray the taxol kicks cancer's butt for you.

    Hugs N Prayers Bonnie

Thank you. I appreciate the prayers. I'll be having CA125 once a month so I'll keep you posted. Thanks for responding.

I am so sorry that you are having to take Taxol once a week. I am on it once every 4 weeks (135 mg dose) to hold off a reoccurance. I just would advise to take Vit. B-6 and L-glutamine daily to hold off the neuropathy. Fatigue, hair loss and neuropathy are my side effects. I believe these vitamins have held the neuropathy to a minimum as I had 9 big doses every three weeks before I reached NED. (((HUGS and PRAYERS for you to beat this back again.))) Saundra

Thanks, Saundra, for the advice. I'll have my first dose tomorrow and I'll find out how much I'll be getting each week. Thanks for the hugs and prayers!

    HI,
I wish I could help, sounds pretty brutal to me.
I have taxo/carbo 1 time every 3 weeks, and had to skip last week cause my blood counts were to low. I almost passed out in the Doc. office with the last one.
I hope they are giving you a lower dose if they are doing every week. Ask them..
