Well our fear was confirmed today. The good news was it is not in any organs The ct showed a tumor in the right pelvis that measured 3.4 x 4.2cm and one deepin the rectus abdonminus muscles that measures 1.2 x 1.7cm. where ever that is! They also said a number of smaller peritoneal implants are present elsewhere in the pelvis. They want to start chemo right away Taxol/Cisplatin. I will be making appt. with my gyno/oncologist in Florida and see what he wants to do. I live in Illinois so looks like I may have to go to Florida for another 6 months. Has any of you girls been on these two chemo drugs for a reoccurance?

I am so sorry to hear that you have a recurrence. It is one of my biggest fears! I hope that it all gets sorted with another dose of chemo, although for me the thought of having to go through this again is horrible - and I am only having carbo... I will be thinking of you during this really tough time. Keep us posted with how things are going.

    Hi,
For my first recurrence I was on Gemzar, and now I'm currently on Topotecan. Did your Onc say why he is starting this type of chemo?? It's very close to my original chemos of taxol/carbo.My Onc believe that it is best to try different chemos, and then when I go through the best, then I will have enought time between a certain chemo, thus helping me not to have an reaction to it. I'm sorry your having a recurrence..Where in FL will you be?? I'm also in FL. I'll keep you in prayer..(((hugz)))>>!~~Joanne

So sorry to hear of your recurrence. I personally have not had cisplatin but I know alot of women who have. It hits hard but also hits the cancer hard. Sending lots of prayers your way. Bonnie

I'm sorry you need to deal with this again. But the positive outweighs the negative, when you consider that there are so many treatment options.

I had Carboplatin/Taxol, and I think the Cisplatin is similar to the Carboplatin. I had the Carbo/Taxol in 2000, and again in 2006. But in 2006 I developed an allergic reaction to the Taxol after round 2, so they switched me to Taxotere and I did not have a reaction. Of course, each comes with it's own set of side affects, but after having been through this in 2000 I was ready with lots of ammunition. So, let us know how you are doing and I'm sure we can all offer some suggestions.

Thoughts and prayers AND hugs are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about your reoccurence. When I went through chemo in 2005, I had taxol/carboplatin, which the carboplatin is the same as cisplatin, the taxol is the one that makes all of your hair fall out, and that was administered over a 5 hour period, and the carboplatin was a push, it was administered in a 1/2 hour. I tolerated both of them pretty well, I didn't get sick (thanks to the anti-nausea meds administered before hand), I was just tired for a few days afterward. My white and red blood cells were affected as well as my platelets. But all in all I faired pretty well.
Be strong, you can and will beat this! We are all here for you and please keep us posted on your progress. My prayers are with you and I am sending you a "GIANT HUG"!

    Take Care,
    Leslie

I was on Taxol/Cisplatin plus doxil when I did chemo the first time around. I did IP and today my admonen is cancer free. (My reoccurance in the chest wall as I had pnemonia when diagnosed and some cells got stuck in the chest). Have you thought about doing IP? It is rough but manageable. I lost all of my hair and was sick to my stomach a lot. I also had a lot of fatigue but I went back to work for the last 3 cycles. A couple of patents were doing Taxol/Cisplatin while I was doing carbo and topo and had a lot of fatigue and hair loss but otherwise were functionable -- I should mention they were only in their late 20s and early 30s. Good luck, my prayers and thoughts are with you and I wish you the best. I keep praying for something to completely kill this disease. eleen

I am so sorry that you got the bad news. I have not had Cisplatin with Taxol but there are lots of sites on the internet that will tell you about the possible side effects. It is a little different that Carboplatin but in the platin family. I will be praying for you. Saundra
