LOL!!!!!!!! You scared me, Bill! I thought I was reeeally in trouble for something! Lucky you! No docs for 4 months!!!!!! I wish I COULD eat a Big Mac! I just had a barium swallow test done today and there is severe narrowing of the esophagus due to radiation effects. I've already had three dilations as it is! I wonder if I'll EVER be able to eat more normal foods again. Have you had to have any dilations?
Lucky you! No docs for 4 months!!!!!! I'm so glad that your follow up appointments went well! Now you won't have to run all your gasoline out for doc appts every 6 wks! I can hardly wait 'til my docs give me the ok to see them less often.
I wonder, is there a way to send personal messages on this board? If so, feel free to send me one anytime. If not, then just address me here. I don't mind...as long as I'm not reeeally in trouble! LOL! ;-)0 -

No, I have not had any dilations. I am sure one day, sooner than you think you will be eating "normal" again.
You know....it may sound funny but I actually have an uneasy feeling NOT going every six weeks....what if something pops up in the mean time? I know it is a silly feeling to have but it kinda spooks me just the same.(maybe I am adicted to the docs?)

I can see your point about feeling uneasy. We all have a right to feel uneasy what with all we've been through. Let's just call ourselves the "paranoid people"! LOL! I know I'M one of 'em. Even though it may be hard, try not to worry too much. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that all will be well and stay well.0 -
I hear ya about feeling funny about not going to the doc. I see my medical oncologist and radiologist every 6 months and my ENT every month. On my last visit to the ENT he mentioned, come summer, backing off to every 2 or 3 months. It scared the hell out of me.BugHunter said:Naw, your in no trouble here! Just me being a smart alec!

To all of you who no longer need to see your doctors every week: Rejoice!! It is scary at first but if doctors are telling you they do not want to see you so often, they are sure things are going well. Seeing doc every three months is good and it means they are keeping their eyes on you and you are not alone. If anything comes up, call doc, of course. Follow-ups are important. Talk to your doc about tests, how often you need them, etc.MLC53 said:That's ok...you can be a smart alec if you want. I like that kind of humor!

I've been doing this for years and after all this time I am comfortable when I don't see doc often. In my case, every three months is when they are keeping a close eye on me. Every six months, all is good but they are still checking to make sure and every nine months is very good; it means no bad stuff.
No matter how often I'm seeing onc, radiologist and ENT, I still get nervous for about a week between tests and seeing docs.
You all keep well and enjoy not being at the doc so often!!!

I have had like 7-8 lyrngoscopies(sp?) myself and have hated every one of them as I gag really easy. The one I had last week at my radiology check up was very bad. The Doc had a new Doctor try it and thought he was going to jam the camera through the back of my head! It took him three tries to get it to turn down my throat.
Have they put in your feeding tube yet? That was the worst part of radiation for me, but they waited till after I had my tonsil out and had had about two weeks of radiation before they put it in so my throat was very raw by the time they did put it in. I woke to the Dr standing over me asking if I remembered waking up three times during the procedure from the pain, thank God I didn't remember a thing!
Good luck on your treatments, it will be over quicker than you think!
