As most of you know, my daughter passed last January at the hands of the institution she was staying at. I went thru alot of indescision as to persue it, and finally, when I read the coroner's report, decided to look for a lawyer. I had 7 turn me down in the space of 2 months. Then, on Steph's birthday (man! Was THAT hard!). A lawyer that had been re-referred from another (BTW, all these were sympathetic, just not interested) called. He specializes in Elder and Dependent Adult abuse.....JUST what I needed!!!! Seems with the others, it was like going to a brain surgeon for a broken toe!!

He has already started the filings, and seems encouraged to fight the case!!! YEA!!!

Hugs, Kathi

    Kathi!
I hope all you dream and wish for comes true....I try and not use the word "closure", as who can close the door on this type of loss? But that some justice, some restitution, some PEACE can come from this~ more power to you.

    Hugs,

I am so happy you have found a bright light during a very difficult time. I don't know the details of your loss as I joined late, but I do know that one never gets over such a loss. What a great celebration you must be having at finally finding a lawyer and regaining some hope of justice. God Bless and Merry Christmas

    Kathi,

I hope that you will be able to find justice and that that will in some small way make you feel some better. I know that this must be a hard Christmas for you.... But I will wish you the very best Christmas. You continue to give all of us strength to face each day.... for with the challenges that you have faced in the last 2-3 years... you have faced them with grace...

    Take Care... God Bless...

I appreciate you sharing this. Esp. the part about the rejections before getting the right one. I am going to be pursuing some litigation in regard to part of my own care after thinking about it for 8 months. I don't want the issue to happen to anyone else. I will keep in mind the possible rejections and not let that stop me.

    Do it before a year...
The normal statute of limitations is one year from date of circumstance. So, you have 4 months...but mine was filed on the last day possible...lol...

My lawsuit is ongoing, you must be patient. A friend told me the facts...these things can take up to 3 years or so, and usually nothing is done till the last moment of filing deadlines. I explained to my lawyer that I wanted to be kept in the loop, but I also understand that he knows his business better than I. Occasionally I will receive an e-mail from him that updates me...sadly, there was more abuse involved than I originally thought...

Feel free to e-mail me here, if you would like.

Good luck with this, have all of your facts together, and watch that deadline!

    Hugs, Kathi

    Sorry
I hadn't been following the postings and didn't know about your daughter. So sorry. I hope you may find peace. Everybody seems to be a specialist nowadays.

    It was a while ago....
Thank you, Marcia, for your kind words.

This happened almost 2 years ago, only months after I had finished treatment. It was a shocker...I was in Europe, recharging my batteries, and thought she was safe.

    Oh well, who knew?
