Hi All,
Just wanted to share that I got my port removed last Friday. When it was done I felt like I had put the majority of the c--p behind me, although I realize that it will never REALLY be behind me. It just felt great to get the Alien out of my chest. I know, I know. It was a godsend; no puncturing veins every time, no scarring of veins due to caustic meds etc etc, but boy, is it nice to look down and not see that thing poking out! The last 16 months have a surreal quality about them, and now I feel like I'm back to reality and getting more and more of my life back. It is a good feeling.
I wish healing and happiness for all of you, my Network Angels. Happy Holidays and have a healthy and wonderful new year!
Love to all of you,
Kirsten

Yup, I remember my 'coming out' party! My port was very high, and it made wearing scoop necklines, well, uncomfortable for other people (lol). It's now been over a year, and although there is a slight impression, and a scar, I am very happy.
Congrats on this milestone! Go out and live LIFE!!!

That is great. I can't wait until my comes out. I went to see my onc yesterday for my 3 month and begged him if I could remove my port but he said no. He wants 2 clean CT scans. My next Ct scan is March 17th so I'm hoping to wear my V-necks this summer. Congrats I'm sure it feels like one step forward in this battle against cancer. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Congrats!!! I'm so happy for you. My oncologist won't take mine out for at least 2 years. It's ok though, it is still kind of my security blanket.
