My Grandma and Liver Cancer

My Grandma was first diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer and then it metaisized in the liver about a year ago. A few weeks ago they found out she was having problems keeping calcium and electrolytes in her system. So she's been in the hospital for awhile now recieving IV therapy.

She had a bone marrow test done last week, and some other scans done, and on Friday they gave us news that she only had 2 to 6 months to live. Then today we got news that they found out that her liver is failing so fast that now it's only 1 to 2 weeks at the most. I don't know what I'm going to do without my grandma.

Has anyone else recieved news that a loved one had a certain amount of time and then they came back and it was significantly shorter then they had first announced? It just doesn't seem fair!

    Hi and hugs. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. Please don't misunderstand this as it's not intended to give you false hope, but I'm of the firm belief that only God knows our expiration date and doctors, etc. can only give their medical predictions based on a variety of factors. Many miracles have happened and doctors are left scratching their heads. By the same token, may people who are the epitomy of health, pass suddenly with very little explanation. Having said that, I think it's important that you spend as much time with your grandma as you can now . Whatever happens, she would want you to go on with your life and I'm sure she knows what a special and caring grandchild she has. I know what you mean about it not being fair. It never is. Keeping her and you in my prayers. God Bless

    Just a note...

    Grandma passed away October 30th at 12:15 am. Her liver was just failing too fast but a couple days before I got to tell her everything I needed to. She now doesn't have to suffer. I miss her so much though.
