One word... mierda... I'm so sorry you are going to have to saddle-up again. I thin what you referred to as a "splint" is actually a "stent" - it's a little metal cage that they are able to insert - possibly in your ureter? - to allow your kidney to drain into your bladder? My mom had one when she had a recurrence in her ureter/kidney (which she BEAT, by the way).

Know that I am keeping you and your family at the top of my prayer list, mi amiga.

    Good thoughts and positive vibes.

Keeping you in my prayers. Avastin helped my husband a great deal. I don't have any info on the other regimen , but I'm sure someone will know. God Bless,

I had Oxaliplatin/Xeloda, then 5FU/Leucovorin/Irinotican/Avastin. These two kept things stable but otherwise did not eliminate any tumours. Cetuximab and Irinotecan worked very well with me. I am sorry you have to do this, but you have options, and that is good news. Monica

Alta - Sorry to hear your news, you are in my thoughts & prayers. I had FOLFOX + Erbitux (Cetuximab) for about 10 months. Knocked out around 7 small lesions in my liver and got me to the OR. I was NED for a year and than had a recurrence in the colon (looks like the margins were too thin the first time around). If you do go with Erbitux, search this forum for ways to deal with the side effects. Try searching for Erbitux Rash and Erbirash.

My dear, I am sorry for your news. I hate very little in this world these days. but i do hate cancer and it's random attacks it has on us and our families.

I used folfox and Avasting - it worked great but the side effects were tough. I then went to Avastin and Xeloda. This worked for a year up until last scan - its did not shrink but no new tumors they think.

Never forget we are only one day away from victory and a cure from this **** of a disease. Hang on because tomorrow may be our day. I am currently going into a new clinical trial. NR1011 I think. so far 150 people in the U.S. have tried it. I will keep you posted. Please for us who struggle with trying to reach NED. Fight, Fight, Fight. and remember, I will with others walk this journey with you. you are not alone.

I've been thinking of you all day and hoping for good news. I am sorry to hear that it is back. But you have fought it off before and will again. Sometimes they use a higher dose for less cycles. I believe the Folfox Plus is Folfox plus Avastin. It is such a shock to get that news, you may want to talk to your oncologist again.
    Keep fighting.

That's great news that you have found a clinical trial! I wonder what snappy name they will come up with for the stuff when they see how well it works and start to market it!

Speechless. Really thought one of us would get a good report! Had Folfox before of 5FU, Oxaliplatin and Leucovorin. This time it's going to be 5FU, Camptosar, and Avastin..don't know what that's called though. Will continue to pray for you and your family.

My husband got really good results (better than expected) from CPT11, Xeloda, and Avastin. He started out getting a regimen called IFL which is not used much anymore because the side affects are more severe than the Folfiri regimen (same drugs given different ways). After the IFL w/Avastin regimen (2 cycles) kicked his butt, the onc. put him on CPT11, Xeloda, and Avastin every two weeks.

He had FOLFOX without Avastin the 1st round of chemo. The onc. plans on putting him back on the same regimen (CPT11, Xeloda, Avastin) after his chemo break.

    Hi Alta -

Sorry for your news. I am wishing you the best.

My guess is that "Folfox Plus" is Folfox plus Avastin.

Good luck with the surgery. One step at a time. I can imagine how discouraging this is, but I just know you can beat this.

    Take care,
    Betsy
