Ok, heres the deal, i went 2 the doc this morning. he said that he doesnt know the stage and wont know that until i have a complete hysterectomy. he thinks its stage 1 grade 3 and its endometrial adenocarcinoma which he said is the "friendliest" lol i asked a lot of questions and my mom and aunt were there. he got mad tho cuz i guess he thought i was questioning his expertise and got mad bout me asking what-if questions, but 2 make an informed decesion shouldnt i have asked all the effects, what-if's and type, grade, etc??? I have 2 make a decesion bout the surgery soon im down 2 the wire. he said the magace doesnt work, so why did he put me on it for 7 months then??? He said i seem 2 know my stuff and was like on the defense, which i told him i know hes a good doc but i need 2 know this stuff and he siad that hes a GOOD onco, but thats not doing me a bit of good if surgery is my only option. should i do this now??? theres no other way?? what if the dont get it all....what would happen and how would i know? and if theres anyone who has gone through this, is gettin a second opinion wasting valuable time? I know ultimatley survival is up 2 ME and God, but is just doing the surgery and going from there the best way??? He also said that they would put me on hormone replacement therapy and its ushually a estrogen based, but my body being all estrogen is what caused this in the 1st place. this seems like a contradiction, i dont know if im just looking 2 much into this or what......im sorry 2 bombard u guys, i just dont know what 2 do now, i feel like a deer in headlights, ive lost my composure which ive had thus far. Now what???

    Hi Cindy,

    Well I'm glad you had your appointment even though you didn't like the news. It sounds like surgery is your only option and it sounds like the right option to me. There are not many others for this cancer, but he is right that this is the more favorable of uterine cancers. Adenocarcinoma means it is glandular in nature where sarcomas, as I understand, are more solidly formed tumors and harder to treat. The pathology after the surgery would confirm wether they got all of the cancer, as well as visual inspections and pelvic washing during the surgery to examine for any free floating cells. Those findings would indicate if further treatment is needed. Often the surgery is all that is required, but every case is different. I was referred to radiation for a second opinion and I opted to go forward with the radiation for insurance. I have not had any problems and actually saw my doctor today. He said I'm great!

    Maybe you felt he was mad because you feel so vulnerable right now and some doctors do have a diety (God) complex that might have made him appear superior. Is there another doctor in the group for you to see? I don't think you should waste any more time since you have already invested 7 months into something that isn't working. But maybe your doctor was doing the megace to give you the option of children later.

    There is a number you can call to talk to professionals about your particular case. It is the Cancer Information Service provided by the National Cancer Institue. The number is 1-800-422-6237. They can provide resources for you as well to help your decision process. I didn't use them myself, but my sister did when she was going through her breast cancer (8 year survivor!!!) ordeal and found great support there.

    Thank You, and yeah after a long day of thinking about it and gettin scared at every little thing i felt in my body 2 day i think imma go ahead and have the surgery, im still gonna see another doc just 2 make sure ya know, but yeah after thinking about it, im not gonna waste time and take the chance of something worse happening, ive faced that, dealt with it and i cant leave my mom here alone. I can adopt, theres so many kids that need homes and as far as aging, ill just invest in some GOOD lotions and be the healthiest i can be. I think imma do the surgery, i have 2 think of more then just me here and i cant leave my mom here no matter what, well as long as i have some sort of say and option!!!! thank you guys for being here 2 answer me and help me make the best decesion possiable, and what really matters. Now im just praying 4 God 2 show me favor and have mercy on me. Thank You again Tammy!!!! *Big Hugs* and God bless!!!!!!!

    Hi Cindy,
    After reading your posts, I see a lot of great things going for you. You are young, it sounds like you have a great support team: your Mom, your Aunt, the angels like Tammy who answer your questions, and God. Good luck and I think with that team and a good doctor, you will be fine. Terry

    I'm so glad you are opting for quick surgery. I don't like that your onc is so defensive about his credentials or expertise and so threatened by your questions. The fact is that only a hysterectomy will do the job, so do it. Afterwards you may want to find a different gynecological oncologist with whom you feel more comfortable. It is hard enough dealing with the disease and then having to go through a rigamarole with your doc! Anyway, Tammy (as usual) has the best advice. She is awesome! Do take her advice, keep educating yourself and asking questions! It's your body and your life we're talking about here, and you can't let some doctor's ego interfere with your survival. Keep us posted on what's going on, and as usual, we are praying for you!

    Ty u terry. Yes i do have a wonderful support system, my mom, aunt and uncle, and u guys, which have answered so many of my questions. I have been able 2 ask the right questions, and make a good decesion now. I want 2 say thank you 2 all u wonderful ppl who are out there and care, and if theres anything i can do 4 u, please let me know!!!!! God Bless.....hes all we got, and when it looks really bad, hes STILL there!!!!

    Thank You kirsten, need all the prayers we can get. Yes i have choosen 2 have the surgery, prob middle or end of oct. i am still gonna try and get another onco, cuz he was just way not cool, THANK GOD my mom and aunt were there with me because with the stress and everything else going on like worrying about bills etc, that was the last thing i could deal with lol i will continue 2 look into this, cuz theres so many ppl out there like me that didnt have a clue, and at our age ur not thinking about a life threatning disease, ur thinking about school, careers and a family, it can and is devestating, but maybe i can help someone else like u guys have helped me.....thank you, i am 4 ever grateful!!!!!!!!
