rectal cancer with mets lungs x 3 years or so. This summer they found brain mets. Treated with radiation for 17 days. Was assurred this would work. Finished end of july. They didn't want to repeat head ct for 2 months to give the radiation more time to work. My equilibrium issues kept gettiing worse and worse. Talked them into head ct. Shows 1 of 2 tumors had grown. It's HUGE (if you ask me). Spoke with neurosurgeon here who had an MRI done and he feels he can remove much of the tumor. He feels he may even be able to remove some of the margins. At this point, it would only be worth it if my onc felt I had more than 6 months to go. Apparently he does, because he gave my neuro surgeon the ok. I'm seeing Dr Thomas (my onc) tomorrow, to hear it from the horses mouth. In the meantime I have surgery scheduled for next friday (YIKES!!! I'm scared, but I don't want to give up yet.)

Dear Mary,
I have thought of you so often in the last few days. I am so sorry that the radiation did not do its job, but I am confident that the surgery will take care of your brain mets. I have a friend who had brain mets, and she had the surgery two years ago and now is doing fine. I know brain surgery is scary but you have a huge support system on this site who will be praying for you and sending you healing wishes. Keep fighting and as Limey says, a cure is around the corner!
Love,

And the good news in this is that your Onc, must feels strongly that there is a good chance for hope. Good for you for being proactive.
I have marked my calendar to say a prayer for you. Be well and at peace. Know this is the one that will work. One of these times it will. Why not now.

Hi Mary -
The upcoming surgery is really great news - scary, definitely, but most likely to really help.
I love your attitude. I'll be thinking of you next Friday and just know this is going to be the beginning of a turnaround for you.
Take care,

Mary, keeping you in my prayers. I know it's scary, but you are so right about not giving up! You can never give up. Hugs and God Bless
