DIAGNOSED INCORRECTLY

LISTEN EVERYONE; DOCTORS ARE NOT SPECIAL!!!!! DEMAND ALL REPORTS AND RESEARCH THE REPORTS ON THE INTERNET. YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED AT HOW MANY DOCTORS ARE JUST POMPOSE ****. BEST TREATMENT PROTOCOLS ARE FROM RESEARCH DOCTORS THAT HAVE DONE STUDIES AND ACTUALLY HAVE STATISTIC TO BACK THEM UP. REMEMBER YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A STATISTIC TO DOCTORS AND THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION. OH YEA I FORGOT; MONEY. PROLONGED TREATMENT MEAN BIGGER BUCKS FOR DOCTORS AND CLINICS.

    I would be surprised if the ratio of non-pompous assed to pompous assed medical professionals was much different than that in the community at large. That said, I can understand the need for those in the medical profession to develop a thin veneer of protection between their emotions and the lives of their patients, particularly in a field such as oncology.

    Perhaps I am fortunate in that, for the greatest part, I have not had the experience of dealing with doctors such as those you describe. I trust mine until they prove otherwise, and I believe without doubt that they have my best interests at heart.

    If you have been maltreated, I sympathize, but let us not throw a blanket of incompetence and greed over the entire profession, please.

    Regarding research and statistics, it is to be hoped that the work performed by those 'research doctors' (and my surgeons are among those by the way) is passed on to the rest of the medical community. That said, it should be obvious that diagnosis and treatment of cancer is still not an exact science, sadly enough. There is much work to be done, as you and I would certainly agree, in that respect.

    I am sorry something bad happened to you and that you're so angry. There are many doctors who bad and there a great many who are good.
    Sometimes there are misdiagnoses but that is why you get a second opinion from a different doctor.

    Not all the reports that you find in the internet are correct. Some because they are very old and others because the information is simply wrong.

    As a patient, you need to inform yourself.

    I guess I am lucky because my doctors are good and I trust them and they have proven to me that they have my best interests at heart.

    Each patient is different so I don't think everybody is treated exactly the same.

    I am sad for you that you have been through such an ordeal as being misdiagnosed. The feelings of betrayal, powerlessness, and disappointment that such an awful experience gives a person are enough to either knock the wind out of your sails or rev up your engines. It sounds like you fall into the latter category, and this is good. That energy can be harnessed, if you really work at it, against the cancer. (I would encourage you not to direct it at any human, doctor or otherwise, as it becomes a waste then.)

    I also want to encourage you not to give up on American medicine. Physicians, like other humans, make mistakes. And, cancer is such an unfair, sneaky, clever, and skilled enemy that I cannot put it into words. (The more you research it, the more you will find this to be true.) It inspires both awe and hate in most!

    I am a health care provider who has worked for more than eight years in the field of outpatient oncology. I have watched many a doctor cry when a patient's treatment did not go as planned. I have seen physicians put on a stoic fascade, only to weep in private. I agree that there are some bad apples out there, but few of them choose the speciality of oncology/cancer care, as it is too emotionally draining to go into for the wrong reasons.

    Please keep in mind just how elusive cancer can be; even the brightest minds don't always know just what it is up to. Indeed, it is the sneakiest enemy one will ever encounter, but sometimes it can be beaten!

    Cystic nonkerantinizing squamous cell carcinoma. That tells the ENT where the cancer originated. All my doctors just looked at SCC. You see, the pathologist did his job but the ENT and Radiation Doctor And the onconolgist did not do theirs. I am not yelling at anyone, my posting is just a warning, that is all.
