I was in the hospital for a week just got out. I've been dealing with pain pain and more pain and nothing showed up anywhere. My CEA started climing once again a few weeks ago. It went from 7 on Friday to 15 on Sunday. My onc and I talked and decided to put me on Xeloda it's an oral chemo twice in the morning and twice at night. I'm excited and hope it works! Any feed back about Xeloda from any of you? See you in Nashville!

Hubby is on xeloda. He is having very good results. I wish you the same. His mets have shrunk considerably in his liver . He has tolerated the xeloda very well and has completed cycle 9 . Some people do experience hand foot syndrome from it. Look back at previous posts. He has not as yet. He does use cream on his hands/feet nightly . He has one chemo treatment every 3 weeks and takes the xeloda for 14 days then a 7 day rest period. Good luck and keep us posted. God Bless.

Hey Sue. Doing xeloda here. 5 pills per day for two weeks on one week off. have had problems with staying on and with fatigue but not so bad overall. I find in fi juice, I have had no issues with the colon. My big thing is I can't seem to get enough water. I should hook myself up to a hose it seems.
    Mark.

Hey Sue!! We are on the same regimen again!! I'm on Xeloda too. I take two in the morning and three at night. Two weeks on and two weeks off. Last time I took Xeloda (about 2 yrs ago) I did develop the hand foot syndrom. Lost toenals - but the dosage was much higher. (3 in am and 3 in pm) Taking Xeloda is so much easier than infusion and right now I cannot have another medi-port put in because of blood clots, so I am thankful for the reprieve on my poor veins.

See you in Nashville! Pills and all!

    Kerry

P.S. Lotion on hands and feet at all times is recommended. Get the Mary Kay nighttime emollient. Good stuff.

Thanks for the information on the lotion. They don't know where the cancer is but we know the counts were rising. I'm taking 2 in the morning and 2 at night off on the weekends. I'm so excited not to have the infusions right now. See you in a few weeks.

Xeloda is a kinder, gentler way of getting 5FU....it waits until it enters those nasty cancer cells to SURPRISE! turn into it's alter ego!!! (By then, those nasties don't have a chance!!!!)

    See you in Nashville!!

    Hi JersySue,
I was on Xeloda. 5 pills in morning and 5 at night. (not on it now).

I did experience the hand/foot syndrome. My hands were sore and the skin peeled off of my hands. My feet also peeled.

I suggest the EUCERIN cream. There is also an ointment (but I liked the cream better). It also comes in a jar which was easier for me to get out (because the cream is thick and the tube was hard to squeeze). You can get this at any Drug Store

Put that on night and day. Also wear white gloves and footies to bed after you've "lathered" up with the cream. You can get the gloves and footies at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Also...if you use Mary Kay..they have the emollient cream which is good ,too. However, it does have a scent (which is nice) but not all people like to have a scented lotion.

    My best to you!

I think the scent in the Mary Kay Night Time Emmolient is not actually a scent in terms of an artificial odor they put in it; it's the bee's wax that makes-up the basis of the goop. No allergens in the stuff.

Man, if i don't get me a pink caddilac for pushing this stuff, I'm gonna be pissed!
