Upcoming CAT scan....

Hi everyone,
I know I haven't been posting on the board as much lately. I haven't really had much free time since having my baby five months ago (not complaining though). You are all always in my prayers. My dad goes for his follow-up CAT scan this Monday and will get the results on Thursday. For those of you who know me, you know how I get around this time. It is so difficult to go through waiting for my dad's test results every three months. I'm sure you all know how that feels. My dad has been NED since September. Doc said that my dad will have a recurrence, he just doesn't know when. He speculated that it would be anywhere from 6 months to a year out of chemo. Well, now it is just about a year from chemo, so it's pretty scary. I'm just asking for prayers that everything will be okay. You are all such a wonderful group of people, and I don't know how I would have gotten through all of these months without you. Thanks everyone, and God bless.

Hi Lee -
I know how worried you are, and I'll be thinking of your Dad. Your onc is giving your father a prognosis based on stats and that is probably correct. However, as we all know here, we are individuals and not statistics. I started my Stage IV chemo break on 12/1/2005. My oncologist expected me to not be NED and expected to have been back on chemo by March 2005. But, I have been NED and chemo free since - that's 21 months now off chemo with no recurrence.
I realize that a recurrence could happen tomorrow - that's the threat we all live under - but please realize that it is possible that your father may go much longer than 6-12 months without a recurrence. I personally am hoping for forever - think you should hope that for your you Dad, too.
Take care,

I agree with Betsy....even tho I'm only a stage III...but I WAS stage II breast...does that make me stage FIVE ??????
I'm just assuming that I have as much chance of a reoccurance (from either cancer..lol) as someone who has never had cancer (preferable that guy we all know who smokes and drinks and runs around, and is as healthy as the day is long).
Attitude, I think, has a bit to do with it. And still, I remain vigilant. If something changes, well, I call my onc. Most times, it's explainable...if not, we do a scan.
I'm sending good vibes, but I don't think they will be needed...

Lee, sending good thoughts and prayers for an all clear. Keep the faith and God Bless.

Hi Pink!
I'm eight months out of treatment, had to skip my six month scans and tests due to insurance woes and I'm feeling the psych out. I just had an endo/colonoscopy that wasn't perfect and had the resulting freak out. I'll be having my scans soon, so I know how you feel. I guess it's part of the "life after cancer" head trip. I know it gets easier over time...
Have faith...I do and I know it helps....0
