Poly-MVA-----Any experience with this?

Hello All... I am generally not a person that would investigate alternative supplements. I shared with my acupuncturist that my tumors had increased in size and number and she became very concerned. She paused for a moment and decided to tell me about a product by the name of Poly-MVA. She has been researching it and is learning that there has been very positive outcomes due to the use of the product.

I will be discussing it with my oncologist when I see him on Monday. I hoping he will be open minded enough to consider using as a complementary therapy along with my regular chemo treatments. That, or I will be considering changing to a homeopathic/medical oncologist.

Also, for those of you wondering if acupuncture works, my answer is a resounding YES! It is amazing how quickly my energy returns and the chemo side effects are not nearly as debilitating. She has made my life with treatments so much more bearable.

Anyway, have any of you researched this product? Have you had personal experience with it?

    Hi there: I must admit I know absolutely nothing about Poly MVA but I am very much a supporter of looking at alternatives, whether medicine, options, etc. I think it is wonderful that accupuncture has worked for you, and is definitely worth a try. Best of luck with your oncologist appointment and please let us know how it goes. Monica

    So, glad the acupuncture is helping. I started thinking about it while in treatment, but by the time I got serious, we decided I was going to take a break after one more treatment. So, I never did anything. And I've been on that "break" for 21 months now.

    I'm aware of the website. It was just a few short years ago that the American Cancer Society didn't think that massage and acupuncture were good complementary therapies. Most insurance providers still do not cover it. Now there are oncologists that have the services integrated within their own practices. I am trying to stay open minded.

    I do know that I read something where the FDA would not approve Poly-MVA because the results were 'too good to be true'. We all need to keep in mind that cancer is a huge business. There are many large companies as well as practitioners that would not benefit from what us fighters would consider a miracle.

    At this point, from what I have read, the supplement cannot interfere with my current treatments.

    I will certainly keep you all posted, as we are learning my cancer is quite aggressive and I plan on being here enjoying every bit of life as long as I can. This may not 'cure' me, but it sounds like it will at least assist in quality of life during those less desirable days we all experience.

    An interesting debate to be continued......

    Hi - I understand. I know I cited a very conservative source. But, we do need to look at all opinions.

    Think it might be worth trying - just thought I would post an alternate opinion. This does sound relatively harmless. I do get worried about some alternatives when all you turn up are the same web sites that are selling them. Or when they have banners like "You can make $$$ selling XYZ". But, I would guess that you are probably ok with this one.

    Good luck, keep up posted. I hope it helps and let us know what your onc says or if you decide to change docs.

    I have never heard of this supplement before, but I would give it a try as long as it doesn't interfere with your chemo. I'm not sure how open-minded your onc is, but I know that when I talked to my dad's onc about taking some supplements, he said that there is absolutely no scientific evidence that they work. I knew he would say that, but all I wanted to know from him was if they would interfere with chemo or not. After a few minutes, he finally said that it would not interfere with the chemo, but I could tell he was still against my father taking the supplements. Thanks for the info. I think I will research this supplement.
