Strong appetite during chemo. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .
Since my dad has started chemo, he has an EXTREMELY strong appetite. He is eating much more than usually and has gained weight. He is undergoing Folfox 6. Is it a very good sign that he has appetite like this?
Thanx and enjoy the hot summer,
Montrealer....

Ditto ! That was me..gained 50 pounds !!!Lost 10 after chemo...and counting !kerry said:Your dad's strong appetite is probably due to the Decadron (steriod) that he is given at the time of chemo infusion. There was a posting not too far back where several folks talked about their food cravings. It is not uncommon to gain weight during chemo.

Decatdron made me eat like a viking. I always had to have a cheeseburger with fries after chemo. Gained 15 pounds during treatment. Oncologist said to eat whatever during treatment, it's much better for the patient than not.alta29 said:Ditto ! That was me..gained 50 pounds !!!Lost 10 after chemo...and counting !
