Hello - I have not taken it. If your cancer is estrogen positive your oncologist will probably advise against it. Soy has a lot of plant estrogens and my last discussion with my Onc about it was they just don't know enough to say one way or the other. I do not use soy of any kind. It is so strange that prior to my dx I tried to eat soy all the time ...now I am told not to. Good luck!0

Perhaps not so strange jmears. Check out these headings from PubMed.jmears said:Hello - I have not taken it. If your cancer is estrogen positive your oncologist will probably advise against it. Estrogenic effects of genistein on the growth of estrogen receptor-positive human breast cancer (MCF-7) cells in vitro and in vivo.
Dietary genistein results in larger MNU-induced, estrogen-dependent mammary tumors following ovariectomy of Sprague-Dawley rats.
Dietary genistin stimulates growth of estrogen-dependent breast cancer tumors similar to that observed with genistein.
And there is lots more even though there are a number of studies that state the opposite, I too have chosen to avoid it. From what I understand if you want to combat cancer with it you need a very large amount daily. The information I found is that it is the smaller amounts that can cause the proliferation. My understanding from reading some of the studies is that the protection enjoyed by the Japanese women is the lifetime load of soy, not starting it later in life.
Apparently the fermented soy products are quite beneficial.
cheers
