I just had a colonoscopy on Friday and I am in need of some info. I have had back and some abdomonal pain for awhile. I had colonoscopies in 2000 and 2003 polups removed both times. On friday they found cancer. CT Scan Clear and all blood work ok, no anemia. I go in Monday for a meeting with the doc, but this weekend is tough because all i here is if you have symptoms its not good. I am bloated, tired, and muscles feel weak. I am seeking any hope you can give me.

I know you are scared but CT results take precidence over symptoms from what I know....therefore celebrate that it looks like there is no spread..so everything should work out well for you we all hope..keep us posted

Try not too worry to much. It's really scary when you first get your diagnosis and it's easy to imagine the worst. The clear CT scan is really good news. So is the blood work. Every person responds to the cancer and it's treatment differently. So don't panic. From what you have posted it looks like they probably caught your ca early.

This disease is very treatable. You can beat it.

When you really need to talk you can check the chat room. There's usually somebody there. A lot of us have been where you are. You are not alone. We are here to help encourage and support you.

You've found a great website. Stick with us. You will have many questions that you don't think to ask the doctor and many here have gone through exactly what you are experiencing.
Just the knowledge of knowing you have colon cancer could cause all the symptons you described. Since you have had a clear CT scan, then it is contained. The next step will probably be to remove the cancer leaving you with a clean slate. They have made a great deal of progress in dealing with colon cancer recently and your prognossis is very good. Good luck and let us hear what you find out.

Welcome. Did they find the cancer via biopsy or while doing the colonoscopy? I agree with Bev, since it appears to have not spread, you may have caught it in time, and will be in the early stages.

As far as hope, there is always hope. As long as you are here, there is hope. Detection is key, and it appears your docs are looking into everything, which is good. (you cannot treat what you do not find).

Sometimes, mental anxiety can surface in the form of physical symptoms. Try to keep from letting your mind race. Get grounded, and prepare for the fight of your life.

How old are you? Do you have a family history? Have your previous polyps been benign? Take someone with you to your meeting on Monday....spouse, friend, family member. It will be key to have an extra set of ears. Often, folks don't hear the words after "cancer" is spoken.

    Good luck,
    Stacy

Thank You all for responding, I will provide a little more info. They found the cancer from friday's colonoscopy. The polups removed in 2000 and 2003 were not cancer but the were thr type that could turn into cancer. I have been feeling tired for a couple years along with mild back pain and weakened muscles and stiff neck.. Then I was getting some abdominal pain. Things got much more severe over the past few weeks. No family history of colon cancer. my colonoscopy was scheduled for mid august, i went in and demanded it be last friday. i could not get into the chat room. but will keep trying.

Hi and welcome. You've received some reallyhelpful advice in reply to your post. I can only say that I had an operation to remove a tumour (colorectal) last October - 6 weeks later I was back at Pilates (gently of course) and in 3 months I felt good, but in 6 months I felt wonderful! It was a very early stage 1/2. Whatever life holds for us, we will be strong, that's my thought on the matter. Find your inner strength and hold tight to it. It's not so bad as it all sounds! Keep us posted please....susieg
  • I went through the same think in February. I had symptoms, but that doesn't always tell the story...I had colon resection and chemo and am doing well now! Keep a positive attitude and draw from your support system! I'll keep you in the light!!

    Hi Don,
I know you are worried, but don't fear the worst now. I had symptoms for a year before I was dxed! Mine was stage 1. Hang in there. I know the waiting is just terrible. I will be thinking of you. Let us know as soon as you can.
    Sincerely,
    Taunya
