Hi,
It's been three years ago today that I was diagnosed with cancer (3b lobular). Sometimes it seems like just a couple of days ago, other times it seems like years and years ago. A lot has happened in 3 years - I got the full treatment (mastectomy/surgery, dose-dense chemo, rads) got laid off during chemo (nice!) went back to school, got a new job - wow!

A couple of recent posts have made me really think about this experience - for example, I don't put up with other people's crap any more, like gossip or nasty comments, and I'm way more afraid of not living my life to the fullest than I am of a recurrance. I've decided to be actively helpful to others - offering my talents and skills where it looks like someone needs help. I want to give back all the positive energy I receive. I've just added myself to myspace - if you'd like to visit I'm at myspace/jldubois

Hi Jill: Congrats on the three year mark. I understand what you mean about surviving cancer and learning from the experience. I too have become a stronger person from my ordeal. I look at life very differently. When I have a bad day, I thank God I am alive to have a bad day....For I almost died, not from the breast cancer but from an infection from the surgery.

Congrats! I'm approaching 1 year, and was blessed enough to get away with just a mastectomy. No chemo, no rads. But still it changes your attitude! Look me up on myspace, too (pmillr2000).
