Breast Implant Question

I am a 2 yr bc survivor. I had reconstruction and implants. One side is always more sore than the other side, even though it's been 2 years. Does anyone else have this? I don't know whether it's the bra I'm wearing or what. The left side is the side that the cancer was on. I've had my plastic surgeon check it and he feels no lumps, the implant feels fine. Does anyone have this? It's driving me nuts, I wish I wouldn't have had the implants done at all.

    I have "twinges" and plastic surgeon told me related to the scar tissue and staples that were left in.

    Don't say that Annabelle, I still have reconstructive surgery to go. I wasn't opting for implants although the thought of long surgery (TRAM flap), or any surgery for that matter makes me nuts. Maybe it an adjustment thing (what do I know). I had a friend that had implants that were uncomfortable for her also, in her case I believe that she chose boobs too big, she ended up taking them out and doing the tram flap. maybe its just and adjustment issue and the fact that the side where they removed the cancer went through the wringer, we will never be the same, even after the total healing our bodies have gone through tremendous overhauls. Keep plugging away at that plastic surgeon until you get relief.

    I am 5.5 yr bc survivor. I had a mastectomy/saline implant on RT and reduction/lift on the left. I wear a cotton bra- NO underwire. Just be careful lifting and pushing heavy objects. I went to a local store and was fitted for my bras- it really helped.

    I am a 3 year survivor. I had reconstuction of the left breast with saline implant and other than it turning harder from lack of reccomended massage, (I have attitude issues with both of them!) I have had no trouble with it. I gained a little weight after (10 lbs.)so there is a bit of a size difference. I have encountered no soreness.

    I just had my double mastectomy in Feb w/ expanders. I have phantom pains now and then, but lately it has been consistant on my right (cancer) side. It is very uncomfortable to sleep on my sides but I try anyways. I am just hoping that things change with the implants. My surgery will be in July 12. I know it takes time for our bodies to accept these big changes but I am not sure what is the 'normal' healing time. I hope it gets better for you too!!

    I also had a double mastectomy in Feb 2007 and the problem that I am having right now is that my left side(cancer side) is heavier and hardier than the right side. I do the massages they told me to do and I wear the bra they recommended which are the sports bra's that button in the front. I don't go back to see the plastic surgeon until July 19th so I'll see what he says then.

    Annabelle: I had a tramflap which was great. I don't have soreness. It feels like a normal breast. It is a more complicated surgery but I would not do it any other way. My advice to you is to discuss it with your doctor. Most insurance companies do cover it.

    But if you don't want to go that route, I think some suggested a wireless bra.

    I do get twinges on my mastectomy side from time to time. It is not a soreness you have though. But really, your doctor should be the one to guide you in all of this.
