My mom passed away a year ago (i was fourteen, freshman in high school) as of May 15 from breast cancer. The shock didnt come until long after, and now that the May is coming around again, i feel it worse. (especially since that is my mothers birth month, mother's day, and death all in one month). I just wanted someone to talk with and know that someone is going through the same thing since none of my friends really understand.

Hey...I know exactly what you feel like. My mom passed away 8 years ago when I was 9 years old and it wasn't until recently that it really hit me. When I was younger it didn't phase me and I didn't really realize that I would never see my mom again, but now that I'm getting older and I'm realizing that I really need a mom that it's starting to effect me. I don't have any friends that have gone through the same thing as me so it's kind of awkward when they ask you about it but they don't know what to say because they hadn't gone through it. I don't really like to talk about it still so it helps me to write about it or talking to people through the internet. A couple of years ago my dad sent my brother and I to a support group just for teens if you want to try that because it's nice to know you're not alone.0

Hi One Radiant,
I am so sorry to hear about your mommy. I lost my mom when I was 11 years old but not from Cancer. You are right, kids don't understand what it's like not to have a mother when they have one. The pain can truly be overwhelming. Since my mommy didn't die from cancer, I never sought counseling or anything. I finally found some relief and went to therapy but at age 30:) Please do as the previous person suggested and contact the American Cancer Society. They are really nice and very helpful. I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself. I was only 30 years old. I know to you, I'm probably ancient huh? (smile). Even though I know that you are really sad about your mommy, Radiant just know that even though it's hard, you WILL get through this. If you ever want to email me, my personal email is divaporvida@frontiernet.net. Today I'm 33 and I still miss my mommy but I am proof that it gets easier as the days go on. Hang in there Radiant and I will keep you in my thoughts.
