Anyone have foot problems due to Taxol? I know some have, is there any relief you have found effective, I am suffering awful :(
Burning, stinging sore feet hard to walk, can't function right now. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? On Arimidex too, wondering if thats a side effect? Please, anyone with information e-mail me if you want or post here....skybuf@hotmail.com

    Hey Sky..
Yes, taxol does cause nerve damage in your hands and feet. My feet hurt pretty bad during treatment... but the light at the end of the tunnel is that is does get considerable better after treatment. I finished my last taxol treatment in Nov 05 and today... my feet while I can still feel some tingling in my toes and the tops of my feet... it is not bad enough to bother me most of the time. I found that it was just necessary to more or less stay off of my feet a good bit when I was taking Taxol. I also take Arimidex... but I believe that the nerve damage is caused by taxol and not Arimidex.

    Be good to yourself...

    Take Care... God Bless...

Hi Sky, I recently finished 4 treatments of Taxol and after the first one i had the burning on the bottom of feet. I called my Dr. and he prescribed Gabapentin 300mg. I took one a day and never had the burning again. As for the tingling in your feet my Dr. told me to go to a health food store or some drug stores and get Glutamine powder. The powder was tasteless and mixed it with water or juice and drank it 3 times a day for 3 days(day before treatment, day of treatment and day after treatment). This also helped me alot. I am done with treatments and now am on arimidex. It has been a week and so far so good as far as side affects. There is help out there for problems, you just have to ask your Dr. Good Luck and believe me there is light at the end of the rainbow. God Bless.

I had some slight peripheral neuropathy after Taxol, but it got a lot worse on Tamoxifen. I was at the stage where I could barely walk in the mornings and hated to lie in bed because of the burning and tingling. My onc said she would prescribe something, but it would make me sleepy. I decided to try vitamin B first. I started taking B-50 (one twice a day) and a spoon of nutritional yeast every day in my orange juice. I cannot believe the difference. After 2 weeks, it was so much better. Now, 6 weeks later, I don't have any peripheral neuropathy at all!

My onc is now telling all patients to try Vitamin B first.

    Hugs.

Hi, I finished my Taxol last August and was left with some neuropathy in my toes, tingling and sensitive. My doctor suggested taking b6 each day, which I have been doing, and I am not having any more problems. Ask the Doc! It will help.

My last Taxol was August 2006 and I'm still struggling with the sore feet. It certainly isn't as bad as it was. I surrendered my self to use the electric carts at the stores because it hurt too much to walk. I do take the B6 and it's gradually getting better. I was told it might take a while. I found that shoes that are real cushiony and have a wide toe area are real helpful. I remember when the sheets touching my feet in bed hurt. Good luck
