strictures? Heart Burn

My last meeting with my onc was good, since my scan and blood tests are all clear. However I'm having some wicked heartburn on and off, stomach always full/ bloaty, bowel movements have lessened and are inconsistant.I don't feel totally blocked but pretty close. my onc said she noticed this on the scan and said it might be a stricture.I told her that my diet is high in fiber. She said I might have too much fiber! Then she gave me a rx for stool softener and antacids.

Does anyone have any advice/experience on this topic? It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not too bad today, but it's wearing me down. Still riding the happy waves of a clean scan, esp since I was diagnosed stage 4 in 1/21/05. After a resection, liver surgery and folfox w/ avaston I'm jumping for joy. But I have to admit I am starting to get a little weary of this "stricture" business.

    I am so sorry - but I have no idea what a stricture is. Congrats on the scan, though. Would it be of help to go through your diet? Maybe something is causing the hearburn, etc? Just a thought.

    i use a veggie laxative from Wal Mart called Senn a; it works better than the stool softeners..for me anyway.

    Maura,
    I think stricture is a fancy name for blockage from scar tissue.my resection is where the small and large intestine meet. Thanks, I'm defininately going to go through my diet.

    HI Reuben, Thanks...so many new words around here. I am sure your diet is good, but docs can be very odd about diet and make blanket-statements that in reality sometimes don't make a lot of sense. To be honest, some fiber-foods works with our intestines and some just don't, There are a few of us who do like to talk foods and nutrition, so if you are up for it, you can always post or get in touch.
