Joanne, that is the same way I got it. Have tylenol handy, my temp would go up quite a bit when I was taking it and yes you feel like you picked up the flu. Lasted 2-3 days.jamilou said:Joanne
I hope you breeze right through it and have a good weekend! Sending good thoughts your way!

Joanne:
Here's hoping you had a comfortable night, and that you won't have too rough of a time with any side affects.
Do you get this IV or through a port? How long does the infusion take? I'm sure you'll appreciate the one-week break. How many treatments will you have?
God bless. . .

I have also heard that Gemzar is on the easier side, as far as chemo side effects go. It's strong enough to kill the cancer tho, so it is probably strong enough to be noticed. Did you take saline and an anti-nausea in the iv? I was surprised to learn that my topotecan iv also included the steroid, dexamethasone and anti-nausea-zophran, which most of us got with heavy doses of carbo/taxol. I'm getting more side effects from the anti-side effect stuff than chemo. No complaints, it's doing the job, and providing some pain relief too.
Thinking about you and wishing you all the best with this chemo.0 -

I'm feeling ok right now, no super bad aches or anything,I'm coming up on 48 hours. I had this through my port. The time was about 1 1/2 hours. That is for the decadron and kytril, then more saline then 30 min. for the Gemzar, followed by more saline. So all in all a short infusion. i think I'll be having 6 full cycles of this not sure, but I do get to see my onc.gyn this Wed, and I'll be asking. Thanks for the prayers...love,((((hugz)))..Joanne0
