Yes, I have been on Hexalen and did quite well on it in respect to side effects. No nausea, life as usual. I did get some remission time from it which was a treat. It was the easiest treatment of all, so give it a shot and hopefully you'll be rewarded with a nice long remission time!
I've actually lost track of the number of recurrances I've had, but I've had 2 surgeries and numerous chemo ttmts since diagnosis in 2002. (I had breast cancer prior to ov ca).

Roann, Thank you for your reply, and esp. the news that you responded to this drug without nausea. I got 5 mos. from Tamoxifen last year and 5 more mos from Aromasin (also and anti-estrogen) and one large hit of Doxil. Because they overlapped, we are not sure which one worked. The side effects of the Doxil were too much for me, as I didn't know about heat and really reacted with blisters and itching. What is your experience with Doxil? Topotecan? Anything else you can recommend? Roann, how are you doing? You sound like it's been a pretty intense few years. I hope that you are feeling good today, and thank you again for the post. Prayers and good thoughts your way.frankelyro said:Yes, I have been on Hexalen and did quite well on it in respect to side effects. No nausea, life as usual. I have taken Hexalen for 14 days and am now in my 14 days off. It is taken 14 on and 14 off, etc. The 14 on weren't too bad. I didn't really have nausea but I ate small meals every two hours just to keep something in my stomach and I drank a lot of water. It just mainly made me tired but it is way better than sitting for 5 hours and having an IV drip into me. I start the second 14-day round on Monday. We shall see how that goes. Let me know how it goes for you. Good luck0

Hi, Thank you for writing. My doc opted for Topotecan but now I will have the Hexalen as another option, and would be very interested to hear how it's going with you. He associated major nausea with it and now you are the second person to say not. What a relief. You are smart to eat a little every couple hours. Please continue to let us know how you are doing and most importantly, feel better and get well again.shortstuff said:I have taken Hexalen for 14 days and am now in my 14 days off. I've had topotecan before also and my best advice to you would be to drink plenty of water. It is hard on your kidneys so they give lots of fluid while administering the chemo but keep drinking lots of fluid when you get home also. I ended up dehydrated at the end of my chemo with that drug and the Dr. said once you get behind on fluids, it's hard to catch up so drink, drink, drink. I wish you the best of luck and hope you feel good while having it. Please keep me posted on how you are doing. Maybe we can chat in a chat room about it since we have a lot in common.paula2 said:Hi, Thank you for writing. wow, thanks so much for that info! I have been doing pain meds so am drinking quantities of water, but thanks to that alert, will increase again and add gatorade. Have started getting leg cramps, so I imagine the electrolyte balance is effected. Did you get some remission time from the Topotecan? Are you starting the Hexalen routine again tomorrow? Do you know anything about Zaloda? Thanks again for writing and emailing. I wish you well.shortstuff said:I've had topotecan before also and my best advice to you would be to drink plenty of water. I did get a short remission from the topotecan but it may be longer for you. It's different for everyone. I haven't heard of zaloda but there must me a lot of medications out there.
