HEAD COUNT, please
I need to nail down a head count of those who are either teetering or definitely coming to COLON PALOOZA 5 in NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.
It will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2007 to Sunday, September 16, 2007. More details to follow, but at this time, I really need anyone who is considering the trip to respond to this e-mail. The hotel wants me to give a count as to how many rooms will be needed. Now, just for the record, those who are either "hooking up" or "shacking up" (SpongeBob and USAKAT, you know who you are) both need to respond. In addition to the rooms, I have a few other things in the works, and a number of those attending sure would help me in this.
Here is what I have to offer thus far, regarding this reunion of sorts...
A Colon Palooza event typically is a party lasting anywhere from 4 to 6 days. A host city is chosen, and we all agree to meet during the specified days to go sightseeing, swap war stories, swap jokes, and offer support to this wonderful family brought together by lousy circumstances. The first day is usually set aside for travel, with a casual meeting in the bar of the hotel we're staying at. The next morning, we meet for breakfast and a few local attractions. The second night, there is a reception held in a meeting room in the hotel or in the suite of the host semi colon~~this year, that would be me.
There is some "off time" where you can either journey out on your own, sleep in, hang out or do your "own thing." So don't feel like every second of your time will be glued to the group. It's casual. The itinerary for the trip is flexible. It's an outline, not the law!
The last day is to travel home. Some folks choose to stay beyond the scheduled time. In that case, the hotel will honor the same rate I am getting for the trip.
Right now, the hotel is looking to be the Hilton Downtown Nashville. I will give rates and more details once I speak with the hotel contact person tomorrow.
So, lemme know....WHO'S IN???
Stacy
P.S. There have been unconfirmed sightings of folks doing shots and dancing at these events, but nothing confirmed as all flies under the radar....

I'm in!0

I'm in. But I have family in Nashville, so I won't be needing a room.0

You know I'm in......
Sallyg0919, you will miss out on some of the fun in hotel.
And remember, what happens at a colonpalooza stays at a colonpalooza. BUT, there have been a few instances of bribery for photos or so I've heard.

PS. The best part about them to me, is how many lessons I learn about so many things. The more comfortable I get with the people there, the more I learn from them. It's an amazing experience.0 -
And as we learned at CP-1, the more chocolate martinis Lisa drinks, the more comfortable she gets!scouty said:You know I'm in......

Palooza's Are The Best
My husband and I have attended all 4 past palooza's that were held in Biloxi, Las Vegas, Austin TX and Halifax, NS Canada. The friendships that are formed at these event are truly wonderful.
Everything looks great Stacy now all I need is a good airfare.
Cheers
Baby Lisa
Yes, I like chocolate martinis also.0 -
My beloved - In my experience, and by your own admission, you need all the help you can get with terrestrial navigation. I simply wouldn't have the heart to leave you to drive by yourself. You could end up in Nashville, Indiana for heaven's sake. So while the whole Bobby McGee, hitch a ride from a truck driver, cross country vagabond life, sounds interesting, I will accompany you to Nashville, Tennessee. After all, you will need help getting your boots off and would prefer that be me.spongebob said:WHEW! I was afraid it might have gotten akward!
Will you need a ride to Nashville, or do you just plan to hitch a lift with some trucker?
Oh, and by the way, is akward the red neck way of saying awkward? No triple word score there, Smarty Pants.0 -
It's actually "Ak-Ward" which is ancient Persian, so I couldn't use it on the Scrabble board anyway (lucky you)!usakat said:My beloved - In my experience, and by your own admission, you need all the help you can get with terrestrial navigation. OK... it isn't ancient Persian... I just mis-spelled the word! HAHAHA0 -
Hi Stacy:
I will try to get there, but hesitate to commit 100% now. Sept and Oct is usually full of business travels, so I will have to check with several parties before I know for sure. I understand I will have to take the expensive hotel consequence later, alas :-)

When Stacy posts the info on how to book a room from the negotiated rate ($100 a night savings!!!), it makes more sense to reserve a room sooner, just in case. You can cancel with no penalties up to a month before. When you sign one of these kind of contracts with a hotel you ask for a certain number of rooms. We usually block out 15 and have never needed more (this year could be different). If all of those get taken, Stacy would try to get more, but the rate could be higher.
It's all about saving a few $$$ so you can spend more on other "stuff". I also have to mention that the block of rooms we had in Halifax included a free upgrade to a harbor view (usually cost $40 a night), so there are other perks too.

so this is what's brewing?0 -
Yes, Bud....this is what is brewing. I think you realize that you are EXPECTED to show for this palooza since I heard you were quite the life of the party in Austin, and I missed it.nanuk said:To Stacy
so this is what's brewing?
In addition to the "traditional Palooza" benefits of support, fun, etc.....I have some very cool things planned. I am revving this up to be the Palooza of all Paloozas!!!
You won't wanna miss it!!!
