Our daughter has neuroendocrine cancer carcinoid tumors on the liver. After 2 rounds of cisplatin/etoposide, the scan showed shrinkage. After 3 more rounds, it stopped working. She has now had one treatment with Taxol and Avastin and will do another tomorrow. One treatment every three weeks. Looking into German Cancer Clinics where chemo is not as harsh and other modalities are used in conjunction to help the patient's immune system. Anyone out there know anything about them? And, is there further information on Dr. Oberg?0

The program schedule is listed, you can register to attend, and the hotel information is all located on the web site.
Dr. Oberg is just one of the many experts who will be at the conference - Dr. Vinik, an endocrinologist who has worked in this field since the 70's is based in Norfolk at the Eastern Virginia Medical School
The conference is a 2 and a half day event which features lectures on all areas of needed medical knowledge for carcinoid and other neuroendocrine patients.0 -

I was diagnosed with a terminal carcinoma 2 years ago and was given Cisplatin + others only to be told In June I have a carcinoid on my liver and the treatment is not CHEMO. It is a homonal drug to manage it. I am waiting for more tests. He told me that Cisplatin does nothing for this type of cancer. Hope this helpslparrotto said:Our daughter has neuroendocrine cancer carcinoid tumors on the liver. After 2 rounds of cisplatin/etoposide, the scan showed shrinkage. Just curious how your daughter is and how the new chemo regime is working. I have mets to the liver also and have gotten 4 round of Carboplatin/Taxol so will wait to see if the tumors have shrunk after my 6th treatment. Any news on the German clinics?lparrotto said:Our daughter has neuroendocrine cancer carcinoid tumors on the liver. After 2 rounds of cisplatin/etoposide, the scan showed shrinkage.
