Some Sad News

Hello to all my friends on the board. Tonight I have some sad news to share with all of you. Mom passed away on Friday morning at the age of 90. It was not the cancer that hurt her, it was simply being old and tired. Her heart just stopped. After all that she had gone through and conquered I though she might just live to be 100, or at least a few more years. But due to all that she had been through she was just worn out. Do I think it was worth it to go through all that we did? ABSOLUTELY!!! It gave us another year and a half together. Most of you don't know this because I never got the chance to post it. But last year at this time my legs went numb on me. I ended up undergoing 11 hours of surgery to remove a 3 inch spinal tumor. It was benign. But it took me two months to learn how to walk again.Last December Mom ended up in the same re-hab center as I was. We did our therapy together and boy, was she a tough act to live up to. She would be out there, half blind, and just tooling around with her walker calling out to me, "hey sweetheart, you're doing good, keep it up". How could I be out done by a little old lady of 89? This year Mom learned she was cancer free. A true miracle. But by this time she was just tired from all that she had been through.One week ago she was still doing her exercises, though a little slower. On Friday she became pretty sick with what seemed like the flu. But then her colostomy just shut down and it became hard for her to breathe. She still managed to squeak out an I love you on the same day she passed. I have learned so much from my Mom that I will never stop sharing with all the folks that I know or meet. No one should ever give up in this fight. NEVER!! With the massive amount of surgery Mom had over a year ago she still made the best of what she could from day to day. If she can do that at an advanced age, think of how much many of you at a younger age can do. There are many new treatments and techniques that pop up every day. DON'T GIVE UP. NEVER.DON'T EVER LOSE YOUR FAITH. Miracles do happen, and not just to other people. Mom and I are proof of it. I will still visit the board from time to time to keeps tabs on you all.
