hi everybody, i'm keith. i have survived peritoneal mesothelioma for
6 years. if anyone wants to talk, i'm here.

    My father has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma and has begun chemo. Of course noone has given him any hope of 6 years. Was wondering what treatment you received if you don't mind sharing that information. Thanks Lisa

    I am getting ready to begin Chemo I was diagnosed with Mesothelioma and just had surgery 2 weeks ago to get rid of my reoccurring left lung plureal enfusion, It is great to take the weight off, I carried over 3 litters. This is hard for me with it being so rare, I have no one to talk to that can relate to what I am going through.I have a son that is 4. I am scared of choosing the wrong treatment plan and losing time with him. Chemo or surgery???

    My father is 77 and has 4th stage plural mesothelioma he just did his second chemo last wed....any ideas on other alternatives or resources...trying to save time on the learning curve....I really appreciate any help you can give me

    Jaybe, sounds like you have some very serious decisions ahead of you. i know of several physicians who specialize in mesothelioma and i would suggest that you contact them.

    Hi. My husband was diagnosed with an atypical mesothelioma a little over 2 years ago. It was a mass on the chest wall that was treated with extensive surgery, reconstruction, and chemotherapy. They removed several ribs, part of the breastbone, and muscle. It was encapsulated and had not spread. They felt they got it all and all his follow-up scans were negative until November. He now has a mass that is "consistent with recurrence of mesothelioma" in almost the same place as the original. He is scheduled for surgery and they again think they can get it and that it is controllable. It does not appear to have spread. He has a lung hernia from the previous surgery that must be repaired too. They will know for sure if it is meso again after the surgery. Not going to do a biopsy as it might be inconclusive and the other work needs to be done anyway.

    Congrats to you for 6 years. That gives a lot of hope.

    I'm Kathy, 59. I was diagnosed two years ago with peritoneal mesothelioma. They also found two spots on my lungs. I started chemo (two drugs, one was cisplatin) and I have been doing great for going on two years. My CT scans come back showing NO CANCER! And no more draining of fluids (initially they took 33 lbs. of fluid from me when I had the exploratory surgery). I had paracentesis 5 or 6 times after that and then I didn't have to do it anymore. All I can say is PLEASE do not give up. The chemo is better than previously. And don't believe all the doom and gloom on the Internet. It will freak you out. It did me. I told my doctor I would beat it and so far so good. Take care of yourself and God Bless You!

    I've been where you are. Don't panic. I am two
    years in remission after chemo and I feel great.
    There is hope but YOU have to BELIEVE!

    I'm so scared. But after reading some of the statements on this website I'm feeling a little better. I'm 43 and was just diagnosed last week. I had no idea what was happening to me. I went to the emergency room for an xray. I thought I had pulled a muscle at the gym,I was in better shape the day I was operated on than I'd been in 10 years.They took out a tumor that was attached to my diaphram and heart.As of last week and the results of petscan I'm free but they still want to do cemo and radiation. Why can't the doctors give us any exact answers. It was 3 weeks on April 16th since the surgery. Can I ask when do you start to feel better. I keep telling myself I'm rushing and seeing they cracked me in half it's going to take some time to heal.Please keep telling all of us how you are doing and how great you feel. I think this site is the only positive things I've been reading. Thank you!
