I cried all the way home....

Nothing to do with the beast.... last night I dropped one of my first-born sons (they are twins) off at the airport. He is in the army reserve and was called up a couple of months ago. He had a four-day leave and he had to go back yesterday. I cried all the way home from dropping him off at the airport.

Then he called tonight. His unit is going over very soon. Can't tell you all exactly when cuz that would be stupid to put it on the internet, eh? But just the thought that my baby is going "over there" is so hard.

Please keep Jon in your prayers.

    Oh, gentle soul, how MUCH you have in your heart right now. I can only offer a strong shoulder, and a soft hug.

    I have already added him to my 'keep them safe' prayer list....

    Know that Jon will be surrounded by his friends and commrads - all of whom will have his back. His CO's number one priority is to ensure Jon's safety - as a unit CO I can assure that is our NUMBER ONE job.

    Being deployed is a lot like fighting the dragon; you have to keep a good attitude. it will help you stay alert, in tune, and the time will pass quickly. Keep him well supplied with letters and care packages!

    I will be thinking of you and your son and wishing you both the best.

    As a mother I so know how you feel. A neighbor's son just got back from Iraq - Ryan is my son's age (22) - his mother died when he was just 9 and I have kind of been his surrogate Mom since then - his Dad took good care of him, but really never quite got the "Mom" part. My heart was in my throat the whole time Ryan was over there, but even though joining the marines would not have been my choice for him, I am so damn proud of the kid. He has turned into a really fine young man and I just wish his poor Mom (who was a good friend of mine) were here to see him today.

    For sure he is in our prayers..my daughter just got back from a school trip to Washington DC (we are Canadian) and was so in awe of the memorials for the people who put their lives on the line for our freedoms..may God keep him safe.

    That must be so hard for you. I have three sons and would be like you. How long do they get deployed for? How does he feel? I will be thinking of you and him both.

    My prayers will be with you and Jon. My brother inlaw is an airforce officer and he is over there right now. He is a father of 5 and my sister is taking it all pretty well. I send emails to him and I let him know that I'm praying for a safe return. I will add Jon to the same prayer list.
