Still NED
Since it has been 2 years since I stopped chemo with no recurrence, my onc wants to go to scans every 6 months instead of 3. Since my cancer does register on CEA, I will have bloodwork done after 3 months at least this first time.
I have developed an allergic reaction to the CT IV contrast and we tried the meds for it this time and they did NOT help at all. Within minutes of the contrast going thru my bloodstream, I was doing my best Larry the Lobster imitation (red from head to toe and very itchy). A couple of IVs of benedryl cleared it up, but we won't do that again. As I told the nurses yesterday after my reaction, "if this is the worst thing that happens in the next 24 hours, I'll take it"!!!!!!
I'm relieved, fortunate and very lucky!!!!!!

PS. My post comes out Tuesday.

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!!!!!! Oh Happy Days!
Congratulations and whoopee!! I'm soooooo happy for you and for me, cause your my friend and I want you around here for a long, long time, because I need you to kick me in the Butt when my chemo is finished and I get on my nutrition life change!!!

Yea! That is awesome news. I figured you would be fine but I know full well how nerve racking it is!
I usually get .25 ml of IV Benadryl before my scan and that takes care of the allergy issue. I had a couple of mosquito bite sized hives one time and ever since then they gave me Benadryl. It is kinda nice because then I am all drugged out and don't worry as much!
Did you mean your PORT comes out Tuesday? I did not know you still had one. Geez, get rid of that thing. You don't need it any more! Yea!

Congrats, Darlin'!
See what happens when you study? CONGRATS! Lemme know when you order your pink bowling shirt. You know, Actually I think they should be either blue or brown - I'm getting a little sick of pink... I mean, great cause and all, but PUH-LEEZ, let's spread the love around a little bit! I mean, it is called T AND A, right? Oh boy, do I see a great ad campaign in the offing if we could pair up colon cancer and breast cancer...
(I know, "Bob, go back to Jr. High School.")

I took predisone and had benedryl beforehand but still reacted to it. The nurse said he has been working there 10 years and I was only the second one to react after doing the meds....special or weird....how bout both!!!!!
Yes I meant port. I get a little superstition and don't want to jinx anything but my onc was pretty persuasive.
Thanks again, Lisa0 -
Funny you bring up the whole pink thing. We discussed it at CP4 and all agree that women get other cancers not just breast and they need to figure out how to spread the money around to others. I will not wear pink nor blue, I still want brown as our color!!!!!!spongebob said:Congrats, Darlin'!

While at the hospital today, they actually had a warning about how many merchandisers are selling pink stuff without a penny going to any kind of breast cancer "stuff".
I wish they would let us do a bootie cancer commercial!!!!!!!
Hugs and thanks,
