Off to California for my reconstruction

This discussion group has been a wonderful source of inspiration and direction for me. You women have really helped me get out of my slump. I finally came to terms with the fact that I have a great life. I have accepted this and look forward to handling this next hurdle with strength, grace and integrity. What I have learned is something that we have all been told. Breast cancer is truly a beast and it will beat you to a pulp if you let it. I have come up against the best and worst in people. Thankfully, there has been more good than bad. But the bad just amazes me. I am trying to learn not to feed it. (The beast likes to be fed).
I have some hope and joy looking forward to my reconstruction. I have sadness because my 6 year old will stay behind with friends and family so she can stay in school. My husband and 3 year old son will be with me. Hopefully this will turn out to be a bit of a vacation. (someone on this web site said that "vacation" was her favourite word-I love it!!)
Love and thanks to you all.

I ditto exactly what susan said!!
And in a way your daughter is having a vaca too.
With Auntie(lol), new house, different rules, new cooking, closer bonding w/cousins. I loved going to my Aunt Margaret's house for a week ever summer, she had 5 kids, lotsa activity i didn't have at home.
You'll do fabulously, having a good attitude is like 80% of it. And I hope the recovery's a breeze, and enjoy that beautiful California weather too.
Love and prayers, Kathy0
